great food and friendly service. take out only but you can sit on the few seats available if needed
Awesome restaurant. Not a sit down place, but they got a picnic table outside. Ordered beef ribs and chicken mishkaki meals, small order of beef samosas and mogo to our meal. About $40 after tax. Beef ribs were amazing, chicken mishkaki seasoned perfectly.
How did I not discover this place earlier? The owner and the staff were very welcoming. Had the beef ribs, chicken mishkaki, mogo; All three were delicious. They even had us try all their sauces, and by far the coconut and homemade mayo were my favourite. Will definitely be back again.
Excellent service. Chef was fun to talk to. 2 chickens with fries fed a group of 8 and for the price it was great. Will definitely come back.
I found Pili Pili while visiting my cousin in the east end. The young gentlemen who were in charge of cash and cooking in the back were exactly that: gentlemen. They were friendly and offered information about the restaurant owner when we enquirer about the cultural background of the establishment. The chicken and especially the beef were richly flavored with their spice mix and was light, not heavy. The sides were well made and moderately priced. The food was made to order so although there was about a 15 minute wait, it was definitely well worth it. The food was fresh and excellently prepared. It made my Mom long to be back in East Africa where she grew up! We bought the large order of carrot pickle to enjoy over the summer and sampled the Ugali Fries which were a bit on the tart side, but good. The samosas were fantastic!!! It reminded us of when we were kids. If there is one very minor complaint it is that the sauces were very liquidy and didn’t have a good thickness to them which would have been great as a dipping sauce for the samosas. In all however, excellent food. Bravo Pili Pili! We will definitely be back when we are in Scarborough again!!!
