“This place does it right! My family ordered a chicken plate, a pork plate, and a pork sandwich on a Saturday at lunchtime. The sauce is a perfect blend of tangy, sweet, and spicy. The pork has just the right proportions of fat and smoke flavor. The meat portion-sizes on the plates are HUGE. Service was quick and friendly. Geneva needed another BBQ place. What more could you ask for? 5 stars!!!”

“They have my absolute favorite burger in town: the fried Gouda burger. Definitely get that if you want a delicious dinner. They did just switch to online menus only with no paper ones available, which made it really difficult for my grandparents to order since they don't use smartphones and couldn't read the small print on my phone. But the food is pretty good and has been very consistently good every time I've been.”

“Yesterday was our first time dining in this restaurant. The best part of our experience was our sweet waitress. We ordered the fried grouper basket and the catfish basket. There was absolutely no difference in the taste of the grouper or catfish. My side order was potato salad but it was actually mashed potatoes. The wire baskets our food came in had dried food stuck to it from previous diners. It did not touch our food since they had a paper liner. I ordered a Carona beer and any good bartender knows that it should have a lime wedge. Mine did not. The restaurant dining room was clean and the staff friendly but we won’t go back.”

“We dined at the Ginger Root on Valentine’s Day and everything was phenomenal. Shortly after we were seated we were greeted by Laura (she’s the chefs wife), very kind and welcoming. Our appetizer was the charcuterie board, not only was it yummy but it was beautiful. The potato soup was so warm and delicious on this chilly night. The entrees were delicious, but the best part was the dessert— my favorite was the cheesecake. We will certainly be back. What a great asset to Samson!”

If you try to call in an order and they ask to put you on hold, just say no because they won't come back and it won't hang up their end when you hang up and try to call back. Also, sometimes when I go in to eat, the staff seems like they do not want to be there and waiving them down can be a bit difficult at times. But the food is delicious and is one of the only good restaurants in town”
