“A definite visit when visiting or passing through Birmingham, especially if you are a meat lover. Service and facilities are basic.... but that is not why you are here, right? The food was authentic, good as any in the better Persian places in Chicago or LA. Prices were lower than anywhere else. The owner was gracious and even brought us extra yogurt when he saw that we had run out of what had come with the entree.”

Be aware that you might have to pull up Google Translate or do a lot of pointing and nodding if you don't know Spanish since all the staff almost strictly speak Spanish. Also, IT IS NOT A RESTAURANT, IT IS A STATIONARY FOOD TRUCK IN THE PARKING LOT OF O'RILEY! When I first tried to find the place, I was looking for a restaurant or a food shack but yes, it is a food truck, and no, it's not fast food quality. It tasted as if your mother put all her heart, soul, and dedication in making you some of the best food (In my opinion) around. I also forgot to mention that the food doesn't take very long to get out to you, depending on what you get, 5-10 minutes per food item. Highly recommend, 11/10, favorite Hispanic food venue around!”

The wings were awesome and the flavors were excellent! The owner was running the register and was super helpful in us picking our flavors. He also gave us the Oreo churros to try! They were SO yummy! “Very good, truly authentic. Loved the “hot and numbing three ways”— a flaming pot of red broth mildly flavored with Sichuan peppercorns, with fish, shrimp, beef and cellophane noodles. Unlike many dishes I have had like this elsewhere, Mr Chen’s puts a large a variety of veggies in the pot: broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, sweet pea leaves, wood ear mushroom, and nice large chunks of garlic and ginger. The veggies were the highlight for me. None of the food was particularly spicy, so if you want it genuinely hot, you should ask.”
