El Tovar Dining Room

Very nostalgic restaurant. Once in a lifetime type of place. Grateful to them for accommodating an extra member to our party at the last moment. We had 11.

Our server was nice enough. His assistant acted like he couldn't be bothered when we asked for drink refills.

The lunch menu had a nice selection and our reservation was for 1:45 pm a good time for lunch as most of the train crowd has moved on.

The food was good. The apple crumb cobbler with vanilla ice cream was to die for.

Beautiful views if you are lucky enough to grab a seat near the back windows.

Good experience would recommend and visit again despite the useless assistant server.

Our favorite meal here is breakfast by far. There is no need for reservations and the food is delicious. The staff in the dining room are fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. They know all about the menu, as well as great info on the canyon.

The full bar has great drinks for you to enjoy while waiting for your table at dinner. There is a great wine selection and the food is thoughtfully plated and paired with delicious sides.

I highly recommend reservations if you know you will be dining at El Tovar a few days or more in advance. Otherwise, you will need to get to the host stand and line up before 4pm when they take walk-in requests. Dinner seating will start around 4:30 or 5 but in order to get a walk-in table you will have to be early or suffer an hours long wait.

If you are staying at the hotel, you can avoid the reservation fuss by ordering room service!

We started by eating breakfast one morning, our wait was around 15 minutes, and we got a great table facing the canyon. The server was prompt with coffee and water. Our orders were taken and breakfast was delivered hot and was really good.

We had reservations at 5:30 for dinner that same night, order an appetizer and then steaks. My husband got a beer and I had a mule which both were good. The best part was the blackberry jalapeno cream brulee. I could have eaten one as an appetizer and another as dessert.

We also had dinner reservations for the next night and were going to cancel if the first dinner wasn't good but we decided to go back since we enjoyed the previous night's food. Got another table with a view of the canyon.

Overall as you can see we enjoyed the food.

So happy we made reservations in advance! We had a great table with a spectacular view! Service was professional and food came out quickly. The butternut squash soup was the BEST! The grilled cheese with sausage was incredible. The desserts looked amazing, but no room to try any! Highly recommend 👌 the restaurant is located in the hotel and there is plenty of parking.

As a place to dine, it's beautiful! Old rustic feel with great service. The place looked absolutely festive during the holiday season. One of the only places open late in the vicinity. Staff was very friendly and polite.

However, wait times are long if you don't get a reservation and I felt the food could be better! I ordered the rib eye steak, medium but was underwhelmed.
