Want a tasty economical meal? Try Yung Kee restaurant in Oakland Chinatown. You can order a steaming bowl of won ton and add any side dish such as barbecue pork, roast duck, soy sauce chicken, large prawns, or simply bok choy (Chinese greens). Or you can order a bowl of rice porridge and add any of the previous side dishes, or for the more adventurous souls, you can add beef tendons or tripe to the porridge.

I've been eating here for more than 10 years now. I especially enjoy the wor wonton soup. The broth for this soup is just indescribably delicious and the soup is packed with stuffed dumplings and various kinds of meat. You simply can't go hungry. The place has little ambience except for the color and charm of Oakland's Chinatown itself. It's quite clean and I enjoy watching the great care with which the counter server dishes the food and arranges it on the plates and whenever I go the clientele includes the locals. They also barbecue whole ducks and one of these days I'm going to take one home.

A staple of Oakland, been here since as far back as I can remember and the recipes are just as good. Reasonably priced and great food. I would recommend the Won Ton soup with Noodle and Congee.
