Julian Grille

The place is absolutely beautiful! It’s so neat how they’ve taken this old house and have turned it into this wonderful restaurant/food establishment. It’s very charming inside. The staff were absolutely wonderful. The waitress was very friendly and the service was very prompt. Unfortunately I’m giving it three stars instead of five because our food was not very good. I ended up getting the SWEET WALNUT SALAD which was $ 12.00. All that was on a plate was the bunch of lettuce was some salad toppings and that was it. One would expect that there be more substance in the salad. I ended up not finishing it. My friend had the soup and salad combo and the tomato soup with the spinach was just overrun with too much spinach in it and not easy to eat. Unfortunately his ‘salad’ It was just nothing but tossed lettuce with blue cheese dressing. When one hears the term “salad” you’re thinking vegetables and various things are added to it...

I hate having to write anything negative about any business, especially a business that has so much potential like this one does.

Best restaurant in town with patio tables with a fire place, street view tables, full bar, and cozy dining room. Excellent service and very tasty food. I loved the boysenberry pie. Recommended.

The place is nice.
The food was average.
(salmon with rice and broccoli cream soup and BLT ) Nothing was special.
And the service was not very attentive.
I needed to swap my empty plate for my main dish myself. The waiter just dropped the dish at the table.
My friend asked for an extra plastic bag to take leftovers and she tossed it on the table.

Quaint little place to get a really nice meal. Friendly staff and very tasty food. A hidden gem in Julian.

This is a charming cottage-turned-restaurant in Julian that offers slightly more upscale food then some of its counterparts in town. The food had no glaring issues but was not exceptional either. The staff was friendly, but they seemed to have everyone sit in the front room, which made it feel stuffed while the rest of the house was empty. Felt like each couple was whispering in the same room to be polite. Again, more situational and maybe not typical for the place.
