Hidden rooftop bar in SD. Drinks are ok but the vibe is good with the bay view
UPGRADED TO FIVE STARS, with pleasure!!!
Since my last review, almost 5 months ago, which I detailed my reasoning for 3 Stars, I have returned to Vistal twice more. Both experiences were most positive, and nothing at all like what I experienced during last summer.
Reception greeting by Reyna at the host stand was warm and genuine, and heightened my positive expectations for the evening ahead.
Service by Brittany was most attentive, helpful and professional, without being over-bearing.
And of course, the food was delicious, as I had experienced and commented on in the past.
These last two positive experiences, and the positive reactions by my dinner companions, have me looking forward to return.
Great ambiance, nice bartenders food was solid. Little pricey for San Diego but you do get what you pay for.
Breakfast (recommend their chicken and waffles, Eggs Benedict, fruit, hash browns, and French Toast and enjoyed it) and lunch (Kale Salad) are definitely their strong points.
Dinner was good (had the crispy local fish in the coconut sauce) and heirloom carrots but preferred the lunch and breakfast.
The best way to describe Vistal...flat. Maybe it's too new, maybe it's the location. Being in a mostly empty hotel and not quite established, it would be better to give them a chance to get some momentum going.
Service is awkward and lackluster. The food arrived tepid, and flat. Flat.
Let's try again in a few months. There's really no point in writing much more here.
