“Awesome little place. Friendly service. Everyone in our party of seven had food they enjoyed. The Mexican chowder is tasty and tomato based. My hubby enjoyed the trio of Mexican appetizers with two tacos and empanada. My cousin ordered best with something that looked like pulled pork but was off the Mexican part of the menu. Fries there are nice quality, not soggy. Recovering from the flu, I ordered less adventurous grilled cheese with fresh avocado and grilled tomatoes. My coleslaw was lemon instead of mayo which was nice change. Big portions. Side patio which looks good for less windy weather. We sat inside and tables are close together.”

“Just came in today, excellent service! Another guy was before us, was super mad because he got the wrong thing. It wasnt the businesses fault, the man didnt order what he thought he ordered. It definitely was the customers fault, just a case of a customer with a bad attitude trying to make the business look bad. “Was only in San Mateo for a few days, but I went to The Spot every single day I was here. They have a very expansive and healthy menu of salads, sandwiches and juices. The prices are also really great - only $4 for a breakfast sandwich. The staff is really nice as well; I stayed for a few hours to get some work done since they have tables and wifi and they offer free iced coffee refills. This coffee shop was also one of the only ones I could find in San Mateo that wasn't too crowded and had outlets next to some seats. They also have a couch in the front if you're looking for comfier seating!”

“Heard this place described as a “ pulp fiction ” looking place, I could kinda see it too. Heidi’s pies is a place set in the past, a place where you could grab a great piece of pie and a good cup of coffee. Had a southern fried chicken sandwich and my lovely girlfriend had a French dip ( not me, I am Norwegian ). Later we had coffee and pie, mine with a scoop of ice cream. It was not so busy when we got there, and didn’t get too much busier. Service was great and quick.... had a good time.”
