Staff is very friendly, the restaurant style is similar to Demiya next door. I bought the Tonkotsu Ramen (11.95). The best description I can give is "Great normal ramen." Nothing about this ramen sticks out, but at the same time, that's not a bad thing. It tastes authentic and I felt like I was back in Japan again. The broth at first tastes watered down, but as you drink more, the flavor starts to come out.
One of the problems I have with every restaurant in this plaza is the water source. I find this same problem at Naan & Curry, Demiya, and here. The water absolutely sucks. It has a terrible aftertaste. If they improved the water source, or if the restaurants took more effort in processing cleaner water, I'm sure the food quality and experience would be exponentially better.
A top spot for ramen. I was so full. Quick and friendly service.
I stopped by here for the first time since Ramen Halu closed (which was my absolute favorite ramen joint in the South Bay). R1 seems to fill those shoes quite well so far! I had the curry ramen, which was excellent -- noodles were nicely chewy, and the char siu pork was very tender and tasty. It came with a scoop of rice that you dump in after finishing the noodles, to make a "curry risotto." There was a special add-on, a small bowl of chicken over flavored rice that was really good as well, only for $1 more. Service was very friendly. We'll be going back again!
This new ramen place was awesome. I tried seafood ramen this was great. Staffs were friendly. Plenty parking spaces, they take credit cards. Highly recommended.
