It's a bit hard to review Marygold's now as it's been open for less than one week. First impressions upon entering is the nice work done to the premises. A nice clean look keeping classic features along with some modern touches with lighting and seating in the bar area. We ate in the larger dining room which felt a bit empty and cold. I'm sure this is due to the fact that the seating was minimized and perhaps no window treatments. The bar area looked much cozier so I'd try to eat in there next time.
The service was attentive and prompt if a bit too attentive with what seemed to be excess service staff hovering around us all the time. But no big deal and better that waiting for service.
    Food:
My wife had the 4 carrot appetizer. The carrots were grilled and were unevenly cooked through. Some hard and some just right. Her thoughts were that the flavor was uninspiring as in not much flavor. Her main dish was the vegan tart. Nice taste but her personal preference would have been for the dish to be smaller ( the tart was very large) and to have a small side along with it on the plate. I started with the Caesar salad which was very good. Light on the dressing and on the bottom side of the plate was a cream of parmesan which was a nice addition. My main was the Croque Monsieur. I've had many in France and other French bistros and this came pretty close. But the bread was a bit over toasted (I could not cut with a knife and this is not a hand sandwich) and the ham was a bit thick and burnt on the edges. I'm putting this down to teething pains in the kitchen.. Dessert was Macaroons and lemon curd cheesecake. I asked before ordering whether they were like French Macaron or coconut Macaroon and was told the latter but they are in fact the French style Macaron which is totally different. This should be clarified. I returned them and got the apple tart. The cheescake is a plain NY style with the lemon curd and was pretty ordinary. Without the lemon curd the cake was a bit bland. The apple tart was very good and topped with marzipan. Different but I'm no fan of marzipan so would have preferred classic fresh whipped cream or a dollop of vanilla icecream.
Bit of a long winded review here and all in all they're doing a good job in a very pretty setting. We'll be back soon when they start offering specials and look forward to supporting a local restaurant.

Beautiful and thoughtfully renovated, atmosphere is like no other restaurant in the area. Starters / appetizers are the stars of the menu! Had the roasted chicken entree, highly recommended, so flavorful and memorable. Macaroons by Pastry Chef Molly and a cappuccino was the perfect ending to the evening! Try the Papa Pina Doble from the cocktail offerings, no regrets there! Best of luck Marygold’s.
