“This diner was a new find looking for somewhere to eat after the Naugatuck annual Duck Day festival where little plastic ducks are dropped into the river from the bridge above on Maple St. They each have numbers on them so people can purchase ducks and hope their duck is one of twenty to cross the finish line first for a prize. The Coffee Shoppe opens at 4AM seven days a week, which is something amazing in itself. Great for early birds. Serving breakfast and lunch they close at one o'clock M-F and Noon on weekends. Because it was Duck Day, they stayed open to serve all the patrons looking for a place to have a sit down meal. Already afternoon, we passed on breakfast and had lunch - a rare cheeseburger (their burgers are made by hand with fresh beef) and my partner had one of their specials of the day that was on the signboard outside: Grilled sausage and peppers with cheese on a Kaiser roll. Sandwiches do not come with fries. Sides are extra. Our waitress suggested we try the Chef's chili since he made a batch for today and told us customers love it. It was okay. One bowl had cool spots in it, the other was warmed through. This is a good chili for the top of a hot dog. The cook and waitstaff were very friendly. There are booths and counter stools for patrons. Because of the volume this Sunday they were out of water, ice tea and some other beverages but we were fine with some cranberry juice. They also offer the popular local Ami brand bagels.”

They have a lot of options from food, snacks, smoothies, yogurt bar, tea, all types of coffee selection latte, cappuccino, Espresso etc. Great place. Good vibes. The seating is kinda limited but still a great place to visit and grab a coffee to go! I will be coming back.”

You can order lunch and breakfast to eat there or to go plus the cooler as grab and go dinners the whole family will love. It's a great option to eat well but save time. They do such cute things for holidays. Always some cool, festive foods and they even hosted brunch with Santa! No long mall lines for us. The food is just so good. And they cater. They had a very large variety of vegan options which was great for me BUT I do think they add honey to vegan options so I will probably have to ask next time to avoid it. The apple cardamom jam says vegan but tastes exactly like honey so I'll have to ask more about the ingredients on vegan things next time but The baklava was absolutely amazing and the oat milk latte I still crave! Love that proceeds go to refugee women. Highly recommend!”

“I love the food. Prices are fair. Service seems to always mess up something. Just small things. Examples are: they gave me my coffee with the cream on the side but the coffee cup was so full, couldn't put the cream in. Or the banana nut bread that I ordered warmed, was cold. Or I ordered the sausage egg cheddar cheese sandwich and ordered no meat. And the sandwich still comes with the sausage. Again the help is very pleasant but it seems like almost every time small mistakes are made. I think it's just that they're so busy. But would still recommend the restaurant”

“Blue State Coffee is a small and central cafe in New Haven. I came here with my wife to get a take away coffee. We both ordered a Cappuccino and they offer it with different types of milk. Even though the service was not especially friendly it came quick and the coffee was good. I liked the glassware coffee extractor as decoration while you wait for your coffee. They have some small tables where you will find lots of students working with their laptops or chatting. All in all it's a nice atmosphere and one can get good coffee in the medium price segment and experience of students life style around Yale University.”
