Nice enough. Extremely popular which means crowded, loud, and over priced. Considering that, I was impressed with the relatively short wait times to order a drink or use the rest room. Not to my personal preference but if you just want to get lost in a crowd it's fine.
The thing I really like about Franklin and a few other beer halls is that you feel like you have space to breath. Living in a city can mean getting used to small, more compact living. Here you and your friends feel like they can breath and talk and not get in anyone's way. There is a good beer selection with rotating drafts and some fun, easy bar food.
I came here for an unorganized meetup and ended up leaving.
Doorman/security was friendly which created a welcoming atmosphere
It’s a great venue. I would definitely return with very casual attire.
Generally speaking, it’s a college watering hole.
I liked this place a lot. Came to watch the Caps game, stayed for the board games and reasonable beer prices. The food I had was perfectly serviceable bar food, and I particularly enjoyed the mozzarella sticks - they're about the size of a half smoke
This is a great bar to have in the neighborhood! It's a true beer hall which means fully self serviced. There's a modest kitchen with decent food that does the trick for this like of spot. The beer selection is pretty wide and isn't strictly German the way you might think. The service is hit or miss but if you're looking for no frills then this is a good option.
