The atmosphere, though cramped and boisterous, was upbeat and cheerful. The happy hour selection of cocktails and appetizers was both extensive and exceedingly delicious. The place is still finding it's rythm, so expect a slight delay at happy hour. But other than that, bring a sense of adventure and an appetite.
Delicious food and awesome drinks. Different from any other cuisine I have tried but the flavours, although unusual, are really spot-on. 4 stars only because I felt that the service was too rushed as they tried to collect plates with food in them multiple times.
Although delicious, the portion size is too small for the price.
Pros:
-The food was bursting with flavor combinations that I had never tasted. I was comfortably filled by splitting five dishes between three of us.
-The service was attentive and quick. They brought each next dish when we were a minute from finishing our current dish.
-The decor was lovely, especially the epic painted story-book walls.
Cons:
-The price was high for how little food we got. You would never leave this place with leftovers.
-The stools at our table were very impractical, with no comfortable way of sitting in them. Designed to keep tables turning?
Hanumanh is a Laotian restaurant in Shaw. It's on a block with several other restaurants and bars. The space is small, but they lay it out well so you don't feel cramped. There's table seating and a long bar.
The bartender was friendly and recommended drinks for my buddy and I. I ordered a drink that came in a unique clay mug shaped liked a monkey. It had banana flavor in it, which I don't usually like, but I loved my cocktails.
We didn't order food, but those around us said they enjoyed their dishes.
