I really like this place! It's informal, yet carries an air of subtle sophistication. It's loud and bistro-like.
The service is excellent, attentive, but not overly so, especially for such an incredibly popular spot. The mix of classic French appetizers with a selection of four different burgers is an ideal combo for this part of town. The generally reasonable prices are also a selling point on this street, especially. Intelligently, they're up front about their tipping policy, 20%.
The burgers were excellent, though one was pretty raw. Likely an oversight, the other well done, which was fine. N.B. It's a super rich meal. If you're here for lunch, you'll need a nap afterwards.
What an absolute gem! It’s a wonderful new place in Georgetown. The burger was fantastic, the desserts were good as well. Service and atmosphere are fantastic. The bartender is very funny and all the servers are very nice. They really made us feel welcomed. Definitely recommend the Au Poivre burger.
Had the best time dining here and can’t wait to return. We enjoyed a wonderful meal that tasted like a comforting hug in every bite. The restaurant feels like a visit back to your family’s house, it’s a lovely atmosphere. The staff from entry to exit are extremely hospitable and kind. The food speaks for itself, absolutely incredible.
As a French expat craving a taste of home, stumbling upon "La Bonne Vache" was a delightful surprise. The playful French name initially caught my eye, and upon entering, I was greeted by impeccable French spoken by the waitress, instantly easing my homesickness. The menu, featuring authentic brasserie cuisine, offered a comforting familiarity that I had been longing for. Opting for the eggs mimosa, I was transported back home with each bite, the familiar flavors enhanced by a subtly spicy sauce. The brie and truffle aioli burger was a revelation, seamlessly blending American and brasserie cuisines. The wine selection was commendable, adding to the overall experience. With a well-deserved 4.9 rating, I'll definitely be returning on my next visit to DC. Merci beaucoup, La Bonne Vache, for a taste of home away from home!
Been meaning to stop by this new lovely neighborhood French restaurant. I wasn’t planning to get anything but a burger for lunch, but the waiter right away told me soups of the day that I had not been aware of! I ended up going with the smoked trout chowder and I’m really glad I did. By the the time I finished the cup of soup my classic burger was done! Overall the quality of the food is really good, everything is reasonably priced for quality, and the service is really phenomenal (extremely friendly and attentive service). I will return, and I think it would be even better to go with friends.
