The Godfrey Hotel and Cabanas Tampa / WTR Pool and Grill Review
Just got home from our 2-night get-a-way at The Godfrey Hotel and Cabanas Tampa. We had a fantastic time and LOVE all the remodeling and luxurious upgrades. The cabanas were plentiful this time of year, so we had no trouble grabbing one most any time of day. Once the busy season begins anew, however, they will likely be few and far between – so get there early if you visit in season.
The staff at WTR (the restaurant affiliated with The Godfrey) treated us like royalty. Everything that we tried from the new menu was flavorful and prepared expertly.
The Nautical Junior Suite (Room 600) is to die for!!! These Junior suites are roomy, decorated splendidly, and so comfortable that you may never want to leave! (But then you'd miss the rest of the magnificent experience.)
Many thanks to Liz (server extraordinaire), Morgan (very patient and helpful WTR manager), Dana (bartender), Justin (server), Chef Joe Garcia, Christian (barista), Cynthia Conradt (sales), and the rest. You guys ROCK! We'll be back soon.
Christian, the barista at the Godfrey Café, took the time to help us learn a little something about coffee beans and how a good barista prepares the perfect beverage. His positive attitude and sunny disposition brightened our morning. (Not to mention his out-of-this-world café mochas!)
Cynthia Conradt took extra moments out of her personal time to make sure that my birthday celebration was special – thank you so much!
We were hoping to meet and personally thank Micaela Connon for all of her assistance with reservations for our room, cabana, etc., but she was “in a meeting” when we arrived, and we were never able to catch up with her. Maybe next time.
Special thanks to Chef Joe Garcia for taking the time to not only make sure that some dishes were prepared w/o certain ingredients but also for giving us a heads-up re: fresh tuna and preparing a special dish for my wife. We enjoyed chatting with him and hearing about his journey through the culinary world. Both of us wish you much continued success.
We were very sad to see that former general manager, Crystal Rivera, is no longer with The Godfrey. She was of enormous help to us in the past as well as with our latest stay; and her dedication and passion will, no doubt, be sorely missed. We certainly hope that The Godfrey doesn’t let any more of “the good ones” get away!

Nice place great experience bottle were expensive

I went to WTR Pool and Grille for a lunch with a view. Definitely worth the experience. the outdoor seating was awesome with a great view. The food was absolutely delicious. The only inconvenience we had was the food all came out at different times which was slightly annoying but nothing significant from the overall experience. Great place def worth checking out.

Major upgrade to what it used to be. The decor looks sleek, the views are beautiful and the menu got more sophisticated. Attentive staff and great location to go to meet up with friends or even for a meeting. The menu is focused and more healthy and loving the chill atmosphere they got going over there. Did I mention the views!! I highly recommend stopping by and giving it a shot. I would definitely be going again.
