“I know its been a staple for this area for a long time but I was a bit disappointed in the sense of expecting some Cuban food. After talking with my server and asking a few questions about certain dishes, ended up with the pork dish - Solomillo. On its own, not a bad dish, for something I’d find at a diner, but this being an authentic Cuban restaurant, it was lacking. The pork was a bit over cooked, lacked ANY seasoning at all, which the menu said it was seasoned with Caribbean spices. The mushrooms on top were the canned version, which i love canned mushrooms but they did not add anything special to this dish. The rice and plantains were quite good. Saw the recommendations about their mango mojitos, and that too lacked flavor; in the sense that it was light in mango and also in mint. As a light refreshing drink, not bad but didn’t sway either way in a flavor profile. The service was quite good and their outside dining was neat. Will have to say that their interior decor/setting is a bit dated and could use a little more flare. I’d be apt to come by again and try another dish, but as is with a couple of other Cuban restaurants right in the neighborhood that have a bit more ambience and live music and if they match the quality of food or better then I’d be easily swayed to go to one of them. So if you’re going to rest your reputation on being an authentic Cuban restaurant then your food alone better knock it out of the park.”

“These were really good churros. Ofcourse they are “mania” so there are like a dozen variations of churros on the menus. We got the churro stuffed with caramel and topped with cinnamon sugar. We also got a Cuban coffee. We enjoyed everything. The coffee was well put together. There was a nice crema on the top. The churros were very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You will enjoy it come check them out.”

Our appetizers arrived, starting with the alcapurrias, which were good but didn't leave a lasting impression. However, the guineitos en escabeche (pickled green bananas) were love at first bite. They were simply delicious, bursting with flavor. And then came the star of the show: the mofongo with carne frita (fried pork). It truly embodied the authentic Puerto Rican touch. The seasoning was spot-on, and the fried pork was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, making my mouth water with every bite. To complement the meal, I enjoyed a refreshing Malta India and an ice-cold Medalla beer, the perfect finishing touch. The ambiance at Mofongo Restaurant is relaxed and exudes the vibrant vibes of Puerto Rico. It truly feels like you've been transported to the island, creating an immersive experience. “My family and I wanted to go to the taqueria but there are literally about 3 tables and since it was cinco de mayo it was impossible to sit so we ended up going in the restaurant. The hostess in the front wasn't very welcoming and she told me we could only sit there an hour and a half. We didn't mind since we were already there.The service was a bit poor, there were only 2 waiters so it took a while. I have to say the food was extremely yummy! A little bit pricey but it was worth it. We spent 263 dollars with a service fee included. Also, keep in mind the bathroom is next door in the taqueria.”

“I came to Old Havana for a late lunch with a friend and it was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I’ll be honest it started off rocky because the hostess in the front and one of the busboys did not give a very pleasant vibe but when we were seated we had Karla for our server and she was THE BEST! She was very pleasant, she was extremely knowledgeable, she gave us great suggestions and made the whole experience for us much better. The food here is amazing, reasonably priced and the portions are freaking huge! I love the vibes and aesthetics as well. We sat outside and it felt like a whole Cuban vibe. I highly recommend!”
