My wife and I first visited Yachtsman on our honeymoon about two years and since then it has for sure become our go-to special occasion place when we're in the area. The service is second to none and the food is fantastic.
I only take away one star, not because of the restaurant itself but the ambiance due to the patrons. They do have signs posted about a dress code but there are still people there in shorts and t-shirts. I guess that comes with the territory of of being on Disney property but I know they uphold the dress code at restaurants like Victoria & Albert's. I don't see why they couldn't here given that it is a signature dining experience NOT in a theme park. For guests wanting similar food with a more casual experience, Ale and Compass is basically around the corner.
3 at best. Service was terribly slow, food did not meet expectations at all. You would expect any decent steakhouse to be able to deliver a well seasoned, properly prepared steak, mine fell well short. I chose the 16oz prime grade ribeye, oscar style, mid-rare as that is my go-to cut (I would ordinarily take the bone-in and weightier). The beef was to temp in terms of cooking but almost cold, the crab cake was inedible because of too much salt. I do know a little about blue crab as I steam my own MD crabs, directly off the boat. We had a party of six and quite honestly couldn't wait to get out after nearly 2.5 hours. Worst Disney meal in 7 years. $800 we won't see again. Yachtsman Steakhouse won't see me again.
Yachtsman steakhouse had impressive steak which may sound redundant. However this can be hard because when you claim to be a renowned steakhouse people expect greatness and nothing less. I was impressed with the steak and sides, loved the desserts, but the best part may have been the roasted garlic and onion pull apart bread starters.
The food was cooked perfectly. I had the salmon and it was delicious, my husband had the rib eye and it was exactly mid rare. I also likes the wine options. The only thing I would change is the cost. Compared to Compass & Ale the options are more limited and the cost is much higher. The food going into that location shared a kitchen and I am sure is just as delicious.
Let me preface this by saying I am a picky, hard to please foodie and cook. Did I mention I’m hard to please?? I love this place. The yachtsman is my go to when I’m in Disney for a race and I want a nice meal. The wedge salad is perfection. Tonight I had a NY strip steak which was perfect and a side of asparagus. Absolutely delicious.
