The Sugar Shack

Maybe it was due to proximity to the beach, but I had better ice cream for less just a few miles away. Mint chocolate chip seemed to lack much mint. Very convenient though and the cashier was nice.

Finding great ice cream has become a family vacation tradition. Our trip to Tybee was no exception and Sugar Shack delivered. Our family of 5 had a great experience and the ice cream was delicious. The service was quick and friendly. They got slammed with a large group right after us so we were very fortunate. The restaurant is quaint and comfortable.

Very good! Saw the owner working there. Our waiter said she was in her 80's but they couldn't get her to stop working. I said that's how she keeps going! Great breakfast!

So, the Sugar shack is where to go if you want to eat ice cream close to the beach. Be very clearly warned, however. this place is expensive! we bought two pistachio milkshakes from this place, and I nearly had a heart attack when they said the total was $18! we bought the small size. I generally love pistachio ice cream, but this time wasnt nearly as good due to the nuts being soft. My hubby also said that they were too salty. They do have a variety of flavors, and they also offer waffle cones or ice cream in a cup as well as banana splits. They had a breakfast menu as well that also costs a small fortune. Every time I go to this place, we talk about how people must need to take out a second mortgage on their home after visiting the sugar shack and that we don't think we will come back anymore, and then some sort of strange amnesia happens. Once again, we are at the beach and want a sweet treat. And, wouldn't you know it, we find ourselves back at the sugar shack like it is some strange part of the "Hotel California." Well played, Sugar Shack, well played.

Very friendly staff and great ice cream. I didn't enjoy the soft serve as much but it was still good. We enjoyed our ice cream on the patio. We had sundaes and mixed in some candies with our ice cream, everything was tasty!
