Good food good service located in historic Downtown Caldwell. A little on the spendy side.
I did not like that they do not provide chips and salsa with your meal.
The outside is not much to look at, but when you go in, it's a different story. There is Mexican-American art all over the restaurant. It gives the place authenticity. I had the Carne Asada Plate with a mango lemonade drink. The drink was delicious and I liked the taste of the beef. The food is a bit pricey, but it's worth the trip for the experience. I recommend the Carne Asada Plate with the mango lemonade and a Coke.
The quesabirria was exceptional, the tacos were alright, and the micheladas were great. I really like the atmosphere of this place. The only down-side in my opinion, is the price, and maybe the servers could be a little more attentive. I'd probably come back for more food.
My bf took me here for our brunch date. And everything was great from the customer service, food, drinks and RESTROOM! I was very pleased on my experience and I will definitely be coming back🙏👍🏻!
I found this little gem while looking for a place to enjoy our 29th wedding anniversary.
We are from California recently moved here and have had our share of flavorless, or canned "Mexican dinners" while here in Idaho so if you are interested in one of those types of places, please do not go here.
I met a gentleman leaving Casa Anejo with one of their shirts on and I asked him how their food was. He said he worked there and was off the clock and could honestly give his opinion of the food and he said "It is really good and I recommend it".
I made reservations for my wife and I here at Casa Anejo. I had another place picked out but they had canceled on us so luckily I found this Casa Anejo.
You walk into an open dining atmosphere with their bar at the back center of the room. Seating is on the side and large tables are in the middle of the room. We were seated promptly and waited on by a pleasant waitress right away. Service was great and what you would expect from a well-run establishment.
We ordered (attached photos) the Sweet Corn Guacamole (I absolutely recommend this when dining there or you will miss out on a great take on fresh guacamole) as well as the flavorful salsa, a Smoked mezcal margarita brought under glass and filled with smoke. The drink was well presented and tasted just as good.
For dinner, we ordered the Tri-Color Asada Burrito (all steak) and a Plain Bean and Cheese Burrito with a side of Fries. Both dishes filled the plate. From start to finish you could tell this was made fresh and with real spices and ingredients that reminded us of some great places in California we have visited. The fries were crispy and had great flavor as well.
After dinner, the staff brought out a nice little dessert to help us celebrate our 29th. The owner stopped by to pay us a visit at the table and congratulate us as well. He shared how they obtain all their ingredients locally including their beef. Compliments to Casa Anejo for having a great-tasting Mexican-style restaurant.
Diner is not inexpensive, however, but if you want great-tasting food, you will not be disappointed.
