Blackwood BBQ - Oakbrook

This is their best location. Atmosphere is just awesome. They have outdoor seating for when it’s nice out. The food is amazing. You get generous portions. Ordering on the computer is easy but I can see that being an issue when they get busy during lunch hour rush.

I’m so excited that this place is open!

We ordered the platter which came with
-beef brisket which was so tender and cooked perfectly.
-pulled chicken which was nice and juicy.
-smoked mikeska sausage with flavors of hickory and apple.
-pulled pork which was also nice and juicy.
-Nashville Chicken sandwich with a slaw the spice was great and slaw gave it an ever better kick.
-half chicken which was my FAVORITE!! The chicken is first brined, then a dry rub was added, next it was smoked and once ready to serve doused with the Alabama White Sauce. It was still very juicy and flavorful for dinner that night too.

The platter also came with seasoned fries, Elote, Mac and Cheese, Beans, the best pickles, pickled onions, Texas toast, and delicious corn bread that had real corn in it just the way I love it! Next time I’ll be getting 2 orders of corn bread!!

Over all this place is my Number 1 BBQ joint in Chicago.

The staff was kind and some it was right before lunch they were able to come and check on us to see if we needed anything else, then the lunch crowd came in and they were busy!

This is the place to go!

I've visited the Chicago location, which I've always enjoyed. I love that they have opened in Oak Brook, in an area with plenty of parking. The food and service are similar to the Chicago location and the food is constantly good. Love the bar and the atmosphere, but it's not for those who have issues with crowded spaces and loud environment; well worth the take out experience.

This location has a self service screen to place orders, which sometimes causes delays by those who are technology challenged. Still a great place if you're so about the food.

Wow! Really enjoyed the food & ambience here. We ordered their second largest platter to split with two people. Plenty of food for four people. #leftoversthatrock

The chicken/half chicken was amazing. Probably the best chicken I’ve had in my life because it was moist and tasty and perfectly done.

Pulled chicken was OK. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The sausage had a hint of spice and a very nice taste and sliced thin perfect to eat in a bite.

We found plenty of extras … two pieces of cornbread and two pieces of Texas toast. Throw in three sides (amazing flavored fries, stunning maple brussel sprouts, and solid creamy Cole slaw. They also gave free red onions and pickles. I thought they were solid and a great offset to the meat. Felt like I actually had a meal and not just meat and bread as at so many other barbecue restaurants. Given all of this, the price was kind of reasonable.

The atmosphere had kind of a mixture of chairs that I found, at least the one I sat in, quite comfortable. Lots of windows, and some outdoor seating that I can’t wait to enjoy once we get to summer. Throw in some TVs and a bar with kind of a southern flavor theme.
