“Looking for a new place to try in the uptown normal area, a friend and I tried Jesse's Grill. Upon arriving our server, of which I believe her name was Casey, greeted us explained to us her recommendations, and made polite conversation. She was extremely friendly and knew exactly what she was talking about. I ordered the Jesse Burger with a side of normal fries (at her recommendation) and it was quite delicious. The reason I am writing this review is because of the excellent service I received from our waitress. In fact I connected my email to google review for the expressed purpose of complimenting her. She was the best service I have received in a very long time. Casey, if I have her name correct, is a stand up example of more than excellent service and all people in the food industry should attempt to be as great as her. Overall the food was quite good, and the service was very good. 5/5.”

“Good food, great service, comfortable booths. Hopping place drawing customers of all ages. Very loud, however. So if volume is a problem for you, this will be challenging. We tried the BBQ brisket and a large Mediterranean pizza (artisan stone, not pan). Brisket went over great. Pizza was gorgeous, but too bready for me and did not have as much flavor as expected. Wines we're good. Suited the dishes and us. Parking was a bear, as always. If walking weren't an issue, it's no biggie. Lots of great shops to stroll by. Glad we stopped here.”

“I love this place and you wouldn't think that coming from a vegetarian. But this place does fast food vegetarian extremely well. They have several choices including a falafel sandwich which is excellent and recently added the Impossible burger for only $9 and it is so close to meat my boyfriend was convinced they messed up my order (you can also get the Impossible at Red Robin or TGI Fridays but for $14... So this is a MOOD). anyway, I'll be back many times.”

“Interesting local coffee spot. Relatively quiet inside, even with a good smattering of customers inside. One or two people at each table, with laptops galore. Studying or working, it's tough to know, but it's a regular hangout for all college aged and up. Counter service is good. Menu is a challenge if you aren't familiar, but options are great. There's a pastry cooler/display on one side of the order counter, but it's not easy to order from the menu and the pastry counter at the same time (you can see one at a time, not both). And order prep takes a while, so there's no real dashing if you're in a hurry. Pastries we tried we're both outstanding. We didn't have coffee, so I can't speak to that. The hummus plate was really good, and we recommend the spicy hummus. Definitely worth a visit. Come when you have time to wait and relax.”

“Tried the lunch special of two (street style soft corn shell) tacos and a tamale with a side of rice and beans. The chorizo was especially good, and the tamale was not skimpy. I like things on the spicy side, so appreciated the ability to add their house 'hot' sauce on the side. But what really makes this place special is that they also serve sushi (!), and we hear it's pretty good. This is a good thing, as my wife loves sushi, and I love tacos.... We will be back.”

MUST TRY. *EDIT* I've been here 3 times now, and i love the food and the people who work here, but everytime I have gone, I seem to wait quite a long time just to see the waitress, which happened to be the same one each time I went. Super sweet lady and she does a great job, but she takes quite a while to get to our table, whether it's greeting us, checking on us, and handing us the ticket. I'm not mad, but I can see how some people can react differently. But the food came out quick each time though. I just wanted to express my experience. I hope they stick around and add sushi to the menu!”
