“My husband surprised me for a trip there for mother's day. I went to culinary school so I usually prefer cooking at home to going out, but this was a place I had talked about trying, if only because there aren't enough fine dining places in West Des Moines. We took my 7 year old with us. She was (as usual) ridiculously well behaved and used her manners. The staff noticed this, addressed her directly, and handled her usual chattiness with grace and understanding. We were greeted warmly immediately upon entering and I was given a very good glass of wine. We had a reservation, but it was crowded so we expected to be waiting a bit for a table. Not at all. We had time to inspect the wine wall and see a few interesting wines before we were called for our table (5 minutes maybe). We were on the patio which was very nice until it started raining. I might suggest some clear drop down tarps or something for over the screened windows. However, the staff immediately began helping people move things to tables just a bit farther from the windows. They replaced things that had gotten wet, and were really attentive. No complaints (in fact everyone there commented on the quick and understanding response.) The food was fantastic, cooked extremely well, and very balanced. We had the calamari, which all 3 of us devoured(it wasn't rubbery at all which I know from experience is very difficult to achieve), and the lobster bisque, which disappeared quickly and was very flavorful. We liked that there were different textures rather than just blended to oblivion. Husband had the mother's day special (and shared w/ me as I couldn't decide between 2 things). I had the short rib risotto (and shared w/ husband and child). Clean plates all around. The wine pairings were great choices and really brought out the different flavors. Husband also joined the wine club so that I could do wine tastings with my girl friend and we could get away for a bit. Haven't tried that yet. All in all experience was 9/10, but since the rain can't be controlled I'm giving the restaurant and staff a full 10/10. Highly recommend.”

“Wife and I went to TNT's Tacos and Tortas in Clive. Hadn't been there since they remodeled (formerly Agave). Fairly busy at lunch time, quite a few carryout orders. Anyway, had the Carnitas torta and mango drink and wife had the Pollo torta. Excellent as always! Have already been to the new one in Clive. Also had a Carnitas street taco. Be sure and visit their website or download TNT's app, as you can get signed up for their rewards program. Wife had used her $5 off b-day coupon, sent in email. Give them a try!!”

“This was. My first time eating here and I can’t wait to go back!! Everything was amazing, the staff, the food, the atmosphere and I don’t know what else to say, except I highly recommend going them a try!!! My brother had the mushroom and Swiss, my sister in law and nephew both had the barbecue bacon cheeseburger and I got a huge tenderloin. I also got my husband a pizza burger to go and he loved it!!! Their fries and onion rings are both really good too 😊”

“My colleagues and I recently had dinner at this sushi and hibachi all-you-can-eat restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the food was incredibly fresh and every dish was satisfying. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, always serving with a smile. Both the sushi and hibachi were excellent, making us feel that we got great value for our money. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine.”

“Great food specially the goat curry was amazing. They have recently introduced lunch buffet from Mon-Fri which is priced at $15. Not too many items but enough to have a filling meal. Suggest to have few more dessert items. 1 star down because of 18% gratuity added as 6 of us dinned in. 18% gratuity does not make sense for a buffet. Rest all is great!”

“This is one of my favorite places to get a burrito in town. I've been going to their taco truck down the street for a few years now and it's always great and this is the same experience except the restaurant has expanded hours and also serves special items and ice cream. Management and staff are so friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. My mouth is watering and I'm getting hungry just writing this review!”

“Best tacos in Clive. Right on 86th St, light beige truck. $3 a tacos, the meat is cooked very well. Don't fade these tacos. Skip the taco bell and drive 2 minutes down here. You'll thank yourself later. I eat these every week. I'd eat these every day, but I gotta watch my weight for summer.”

“We have found a hidden gem in Clive. What a cozy little Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance! The hand-painted artwork on their walls is beautiful! Taco plates are amazing and the house margaritas in the Don Julio jars are a great touch! $3.99 on Thursdays! I really hope to see Toro Loco around for years to come!”

“Great new addition to the area! The Neapolitan style pizza was good, crust was really good. Great selection on drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Clean, beautifully designed space. I love the open kitchen with the bar seating right there looking into the action- something you don’t see much of unless you’re in a big city. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service, from entering the restaurant to leaving. It wasn’t welcoming or attentive, especially for how many employees were working/standing around. We had to get up and ask to place our order after who knows how long we waited. The other downside is it’s not very kid/family-friendly, which is surprising for being in the suburbs and for the handful of other tables in there that had babies and toddlers. As adventurous as our one year old is, there was no kids menu or small bites that would be suitable as a meal. We will definitely be back because the pizza is so good. I really hope the service will improve and Franka, along with its employees, will be more welcoming to a couple bringing their child along for a nice dinner. Thank you for bringing a locally-owned restaurant to the area!”

“Des Moines is known for its large Italian family connections who take pride in expressing their culture through authentic restaurants and deli’s. One such place is a small deli called: A Taste of Italy Grocery and Deli ran by Todd. The people are genuine and know their regulars. My combo of beef, provolone and sausage was awesome. The wait was small and the price was reasonable. A great place to stop and take in an authentic taste of Little Italy!”
