Evolve Juicery & Kitchen

First week using the meal plan. Main dishes, sides, soups and snacks are awesome. Really helping me stick to eating healthy while offering something interesting to eat.

First, I love the location (convenient for those working in downtown DSM). They also have nice big tables, friendly staff, and a decently large selection of paleo/healthy food that’s conveniently pre-prepared (microwaves are available in-store if you end up eating your food right away). I really wanted to like this place. I love smoothies and healthy food! But this place is both pricey (entrees around $10-12; soup $7; smoothies $6-$7.75) and leaves much to be desired in texture and taste.

For the record, I tried 4 items off of the menu. The Blueberry Boost smoothie (really sour and more like juice than smoothie), the pumpkin horchata smoothie (seasonal, chunky, heavy on the spice, lacking in the pumpkin dept, and also more like a juice than a smoothie), chicken noodle soup (no complaints), and an entree comprised of chicken with spaghetti squash (marinara over top) and broccoli (pretty good but pricey for the small portion size).

Just had both a Vanilla Latte and Beet It juices. Both were great. Good balance of flavors and not too sweet. Will be a regular stop on my visits to Des Moines.

First time here, had the chicken salad w/cabbage, amazing flavor. You know it's good when you just finished and are already looking forward to eating it again. Great value and high quality.

Normally I don't like super chatty morning store attendants, but the guy working this morning was super! He made me feel welcome, explained all the options and specials, and made a nice amount of conversation without it being too much. I got the Denver omelet and it was really tasty. I also got 3 of the bone broths. I am so pleased. I drink bone broth every morning but keep trying to find it more reasonably priced than my favorite local brand, and this place delivered. They had the biggest selection of bone broth flavors that I've seen from one brand and the flavor was awesome. Usually I have to add garlic power, salt, pepper, whatever to jazz it up, but this was great on its own. I am so happy to see another healthy meal prep service in the Des Moines area, and this one is much more convenient for me than the other one I frequent. Will definitely be back!
