“I give this 5 stars because the entire experience was wonderful! We were seated and asked what meat we'd like to have and our drinks We ordered the beef and the chicken. It was all delicious and big portions! Our server had several tables but she kept our drinks full, was friendly and let us know the status of our food. The hotel and restaurant were very clean and beautiful. You can tell the food was homemade and quality made. And the ice cream was a special added touch.”

“Passing thru on I-70, and stumbled upon this taco truck. Really great Asada and Pollo tacos. The gentleman at the window was very helpful and nice. Well worth stopping by.”

“One of the best burgers I've had in a while! The fries could have used some more seasoning. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the volume during lunch.”

“We feasted like Kings today. The recipes used were from the original recipes of the 1870 Brookville Hotel - except for the beef and the ice cream. The beef and ice cream are from Munson Angus Farms. Veronica, our server, was knowledgeable, kind, and has exceptional waitstaff skills.”

“Popular little spot! Nice lady came out and grabbed my order while sitting in the drive thru line and by the time I got to the window the order was ready. Very reasonable prices and very good food! Will definitely be back.”

“Food was great as usual, but being the only 2 customers in there I felt we shouldn't have had to wait so long for our food. The root beer tasted strange”

“A grill with plenty of options. Food taste like home cooking. A good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. I like the unique bar decor with beer caps and cool concrete slab as the table top. Large portions. The chicken Alfredo with broccoli was a hit! Clean restrooms. Ample seating both indoor and outdoor. Staff was very welcoming.”

“This place was the best! The donuts were amazing! The service was perfect! I wish I lived closer so I could come back frequently!”

“Holy smokes this place is awesome. My wife and I ate there this last Sunday and we shared a full slab of ribs. $26.99 complete with two sides and soup/salad. Drink prices are reasonable and the service was quick and courteous. Oh yeah, those ribs - they were amongst some of the best I have ever eaten and I’ve had BBQ all over this country. Choice of sweet or spicy and we opted for the spicy sauce. Incredible. I would have snapped a photo of them but I was too busy enjoying them.”

“OMG, Healthy Food and Juices in the middle of Kansas! The GF Foccacia and White Bread options make all sandwiches GF accessible. What a treat! This is my new favorite place to stop and eat when driving across highway 70. Abilene, Kansas has plenty of provisions but definitely stop in here for food and juicy goodness!”

“5 STAR indeed!! Best Salad in town by far!! Fresh produce and delicious flavor. The housemade ranch is amazing!! Our server Elizabeth was friendly and attentive to our needs even when we had to add on food after our initial order. She kept our drinks full and the pizza was hot and fresh! The quality of this family restaurant is all around superior to any other!! Excellent food, staff and environment! You won’t be disappointed. A+ for sure!”

“If you’re lucky enough to go on a day when they have the Mac-and-Cheese Grilled Cheese, I’d highly suggest it! The location has such a cute welcoming feel, and is a great place to catch lunch with some friends. The decor is beautiful and there is a home-cooked feel to the food that makes it simultaneously delicious and comforting. Would go again as I pass through town!”

“Good eats & very attentive & friendly bar & wait-staff. Margaritas & the huge carne asada burrito was a winner tonight. The beef fajitas were great, too. Plenty of leftovers for later... now, if only Abilene allowed *to go* cups for the margaritas. Looking forward to our next visit.”

“Abilene Staple. Great spot to meet a local. Good breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mostly home cooking and good prices. I would describe this place as a great Diner. I most recently had the Denver Omelette and it was hot and delicious. Crispy hash browns and white toast.”

“When it was Taco Grande it was good. Now its not so good. I don't mind paying more then I did before but I at least want my moneys worth. I paid $1.99 for a side of rice that was half full at best. When I called to speak to a manager, there was none there. That would explain the long wait time and no cars in the lot. Ill go back to Ponchos in salina. Its both quick and good there.”

“This place had multiple items that would normally cause me to lower the rating, but overall was a five star experience. We had called ahead to make sure they were open, but then arrived at the same time another customer was walking away because all of the doors were locked. Finally realized the open door is on the side away from the Handicapped parking. We entered and were seated by someone who continued to show evidence that she did not know the basics of how the restaurant was to be run, but she was helpful. Just clueless. On Friday night, they offer a prime rib dinner for $25+ or a buffet for $17. We had the buffet, which consists of a salad bar (with spring mix instead of iceberg) and a hot bar totaling 19 items. My hubby enjoyed four of the all-you-can-eat steaks. I tried the fish. We were also offered baked potatoes and dinner rolls, which really helped, since my teeth don't allow me to enjoy the steaks. It's really very economical, if you can enjoy steak. Our waitress did not show up until we were well into our meal, but another server stepped in and did a great job doubling up. Like I said, individually, many of these things would have been 4 stars. But all together, it was a five star dinner, and we would return.”
