I will start off by saying, our waitress Kay was very pleasant and professional. And once we got our food it was very good. The daiquiri’s were really good! Now the bad, we waited almost 2 hrs for our appetizers and over 2 hours for our dinner. If you do want to try the place I would say come as early as possible to avoid waiting an incredibly long time.
On my first visit in July I gave this place 5 stars but now after going a few more times I'm giving 3 stars. I ordered the exact same thing every time I went and each time my meal looked different and definitely tasted different each time. I still plan to support but they need to be consistent. This last time we went at 7:30pm and didn't get our drinks until 8:12. Thats too long to wait for a drink. And they need to offer bread and butter while people wait forever to get food. I'm fine with waiting but at least give me a piece of bread or crackers.
Food was absolutely incredible. Gumbo was the best I've ever had in Kansas City. Drinks were delicious as well! Recommend getting the big size and splitting. Before you go, please understand they are short staffed so you'll probably wait a while at the door as well as wait a long time for food. The food is so good, it is WORTH it!! The staff made it clear to us multiple times that we'd be waiting and the manager was very active on the floor. I don't think there's any reason to fault them on that as they are doing the best they can with that situation.
Get the Salmon New Orleans. It was the best prepared salmon I’ve ever had in my life. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is very upbeat and very New Orleans style. The daiquiris are delicious, affordable, and very strong. The owner is extremely friendly and involved and a pleasure to chat with. I can’t wait to go back.
Pros: Great food- loved the lobster bisque and gumbo!
Great flavor- The flavor was on point!
Great service- The staff was friendly and courteous. there was a bit of a wait to be seated, but nothing too crazy.
Cons: Price- For what you get, and the fact that they are out of things; including things that go with the meal (crawfish), the price should be lower.
Kitchen wait times- While we were waiting to be seated, we were told the kitchen was backed up, so it might be a little while. When we were seated, I noticed that there were a lot of people at the bar, but few tables were occupied. Our waitress greeted us fairly quickly and got our drink and app order. They took a while to come out, as did our meal, but everything was hot and delicious:)
Excuses- from Being out items, on their already limited menu, to only a couple of daiquiri machines working, so limited on drinks, we’re told it’s all due to a “soft opening.” I understand there are kinks to work out when first opening, but you can only use this excuse for so long. This location has been open for about 4-6 weeks and this is their second location; same owners.
With the friendly staff and great food, I want to like this place. Like so many other reviews have said, this place has potential, but I worry they won’t figure it out and fade away like so many others have before…..ironically, in this exact location.
I hope to try again when things are better.
