We absolutely love Mayan cafe and we’re excited to try their food truck.
The disappointment started when we walked into the brewery. The food truck is permanently based in the beer garden of Gravely Brewing. It does have some nice shaded areas and the tables were clean.
You have to order your food from a waiter of the brewery. Which normally isn’t an issue but the staff here don’t seem to really care about food allergies. We love Mayan cafe and they are amazing at handling food allergies. We also love their food. This was a competent different experience.
After we tracked down a waiter and ordered and explained our food allergy we waited mere feet from the cold truck. It would have made so much more sense to order directly from the truck. A different server dropped off our food and mine has a cream looking sauce on top. We then had to track down another server to help us find out what the sauce was since instead I couldn’t have any dairy. Of course we can see and hear the good truck employees and can’t speak to them. It was very frustrating.
The staff was very slow and inattentive to customers. The food was good but not up to the standard of their stand alone restaurant. We won’t be back since the brewery didn’t have very beer either. Wish we could have had a better experience.
Great food and service, great beer as well!
