Taste of Di Island Eatery

What a delicious surprise! Never expected to find great Jamaican cuisine so far north. The curried goat and the whole red snapper were both incredible. We liked it so much that we're timing our return trip from the UP to stop by for lunch on the way home. Definitely will make it a tradition to stop at Taste of Di Island whenever we're crossing the Mac!

We ordered the jerk chicken. Generous portions with rice and beans (how it is traditionally served) they were fast and friendly. The chicken was absolutely perfect! Nice and tender and just the right amount of spicy.

Great Island food. An excellent addition to Mackinac City and way unexpected. Food was delicious and service was great. Curry Goat was exactly how you would want it, flavorful and spicy. Not a burn your mouth spicy, a heat to keep you from stopping eating. Lunch special portion of Jerk Chicken was excellent. Prices are higher but it comes with the territory (tourist town). At least your money goes to a local place. An excellent break from the typical Northern Michigan food.

Beautiful and delicious food. We were happy to find a vegetarian option here as there really isn't much for vegetarians in Mackinaw City. Tofu curry, salad, and plantains with a choice of side (rice and beans for myself, bammy - fried cassava bread for my wife). The pineapple ginger juice was also excellent, very gingery! Overall a bit pricy but very satisfying.

I've had Jamaican and Caribbean food before, this was some of the best. The goat curry was amazing! The jerk chicken lunch portion was very reasonably priced and had a great amount of food. Ox tail was delicious also, a little more stew-like than I'd had before at other places (mixed really well with the beams and rice!) Service was quick, they accommodated our party well. I absolutely would come back! Help support this awesome restaurant (also they have takeout)
