We stumbled upon this place and was an excellent find and the food was amazing! The dishes were very well prepared, the tenderloin was so soft and delicious. The vermicelli came in such a large portion too. We had the soft spring roll for an appetizer and was probably one of the better one I've tried and the peanut sauce was on point. They do not serve alcohol, was few of the people in our group were disappointed, but the food definitely made up for it. Highly recommend for a nice date night.
Monsoon sets a high standard for authentic Vietnamese food. The place is co-owned by a Vietnamese and I think it’s more approachable to Americans. Love the light fixtures and decorations. It’s such a waste that they haven’t got their liquor license yet. The food is phenomenal and well-presented. I got the Grand Rapids Fried Rice and the Wagyu steak was cooked Medium perfectly. Good portion. Our waitress misheard the order and promised to take the wrong item off the bill but ended up including it in the check. Anyway, we will come back for the good ambience and good service.
When hubby and I found out a Vietnamese restaurant was opening downtown Grand Rapids, we were pretty stoked. Vietnamese traditions run deep in our family and we couldn’t wait to support a business that showcased the beauty of Vietnam through its thoughtfully curated cuisine & interior space.
Some highlights:
Love the decor and the mood of the restaurant— it’s very inviting!
The grilled tomahawk pork chop was hot and juicy, the chimichurri was a great balance of Vietnamese flavors (hints of lime, basil, and cilantro).
The lime dressing on the salad of the grilled tomahawk reminded me of my mother in law’s homemade dressing (huge compliment, she’s one of the best cooks I know)… so good!
Our server Jennifer was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming, and food was delectable!
Overall experience: 10/10
We can’t wait to try more food and drinks from their menu!
Check out the place during its second day of the grand opening. First the atmosphere stands out from most Vietnamese restaurant. A more tropical feeling. Tasting the beef noodle soup, it was above average. Fried rice with the wagyu beef, absolutely amazing. Although the waiting time was a little longer than usual when I was there. Other than that, the desert was extra good. The staff was busy but they were attentive. Taste of tropical weather 8/10
Highly recommend coming here! We came out for dinner on Friday night after their grand opening and had a great meal. The restaurant was busy and the food was coming out of the kitchen quickly. Our food was so yummy! And everything that we saw other people eating looked really good too! Definitely have to come back!
