Open 7 days a week from mid-May to early September.
​South Beach Hours: 11:00am - 10:00pm
North Beach Hours: 11:00am - 9:00pm (hours may vary, weekends only till early June then 7 days a week)

Why the "Sunset Side"? you say, because it's on the SUNSET SIDE OF MICHIGAN!

The Sunset Side burst onto the scene in 2009, and beach goers were thrilled. Offering the largest menu these little buildings have ever had. Operated by 2nd generation concessionaire Stacy Sutton aka "Beach Mama", daughter of Cy and Madeline Klopfenstein (State Park Concessionaires 1962-1981), along with daughter Devon and a crew of seasoned employees affectionately referred to as "Beach Family". Our goal is to serve FUN FOOD as fast as we can.

With 2 locations available to serve you. North Beach (located near the entrance of Stearns Park) and South Beach (close to the pier and playground area) offer a large variety of beach supplies and food. Both North and South Beach offer cold drinks such as fresh squeezed lemonade and slush puppies, hot dogs and brats, ice cream and a variety of snacks. South Beach has a substantially wider menu that includes specialty burgers, roast turkey sandwiches, the Flip-Flop - grilled PB & J, and fried treats such as corn dogs, funnel cakes and the wildly popular Deep Fried Oreos. Each carry beach essentials like sunscreen, flip flops, inflatable rafts and rings, "noodles", apparel and of course sand pails and beach toys.

Proudly, nearly all the food we sell is made in Michigan, with some being produced right here in Mason County and Ludington. Ice cream includes Hudsonville, Country Dairy in New Era and also Homemade Brand (a shout out to our Ohio friends!) The dogs, brats and burgers are from Sanders Meats in Custer and the buns they are served on are baked by McDonald's Bakery in Ludington.

Stearns Park "The Beach" is the place to be in Ludington.
So come on over, come as you are - SERIOUSLY! NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO PROBLEM!

    Visited here two weeks ago. Beach was amazing and the water was cool. Beach was clean and had even been raked. The bathrooms were well maintained. The oversized beach chairs made for a great photo op. It was close to the lighthouse which was a nice scenic walk. The little snack shack was a great reprieve from the heat and the ice cream was delicious. There were volleyball nets down the beach a ways and a playground on the other side of the pier sidewalk. A very nice beach to visit.

    Love it tempted to go every time I'm at stearns park fast service great place to get food while being on the beach
