Root is the best place for a top shelf cocktail in Ann Arbor and one of the most unique bars that you will ever go to.

Root is not your traditional bar, it is not even your traditional upscale cocktail bar. Root is an an experience from the moment you walk through the unmarked door. As you pass through layers of rock and darkness, you eventually find yourself in a place that feels so unfamiliar and undeniably cool that you wonder if you will be allowed to stay … and at the same time it feels as though it was hewn out of the earth just for you.

Hands down the best cocktails in Ann Arbor. This experience is memorable and special. The ambiance is relaxing and unique. It feels like a movie scene. My husband and I have been here twice now. Each time we want to stay for hours. We will certainly become regulars! The cocktails and experience also greatly outshine the last word

This place is really cool looking. Perfect venue to host a wedding or party event. Lots of space and great scenery. Drinks are TOOOOO EXPENSIVE $$$ and to be real not worth it at all. It's ann arbor... cocktails shouldn't be $15-$20 for one shot and juice/fruit/soda. Better off buying a drink from the other two bars and bringing it down to enjoy the view of somewhat of a speakeasy vibe. Staff friendly. Could be a great dance venue in my opinion if its used that way. This place is really just a nice sight see spot.

My cousin took me here for a night out when I was home and they did not disappoint! Logan and Dean were amazing . They made the best drinks, had great senses of humor - literally were everything! Our charcuterie board was delicious . The ambiance is amazing, such a vibe. I cannot wait to go back .

This is such a cool place! Hidden in the basement of Circ, this wasn't at all what I was expecting.

It definitely looks like they kept the old charm from the building and upgraded it to be a low-key, almost speak-easy type venue. We were assured that the lack of seating right now was just because of COVID, and that this will NOT become just another Ann Arbor club. The space has very low lighting, so give your eyes time to adjust if you're coming in from a bright day.

Drinks are beautifully made, and cost as such-- cocktails here are around $15 each. But they're tasty, and each one is unique! Plus you're paying for the unique vibes. Definitely give them a shot! They're technically open at the moment but haven't even had their official "soft opening," so it may be a while before they're running at full steam.
