“Had a very good experience at Chef J’s. Love the laid-back vibe and a great excuse to explore the bottoms (ahem, I’m talking about the neighborhood 😁). Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Portions are very generous too. I thought the brisket wasn’t as good as some other KC institutions - it was tender, but lacked the smoky/salty punch. The pulled pork was great and the sides are off the hook — highly recommend the Mexican corn! The desserts are delicious too — the peanut butter pie was the perfect end to our meal. Recommend!”

“If you are looking for a fun atmosphere and good food, The Ship is a great spot! It used to be so hard to get a table on First Friday weekends, but the expansion has really opened it up. I prefer to sit in the old part that feels like your dining in a shop, but the new bar side is open and leaves lots of space for social distancing. The smoked chicken salad is my favorite menu item, but I’ve honestly never had a meal I didn’t enjoy. The staff is always friendly. I would highly recommend.”

“I finally had the opportunity to try this restaurant last week and I was disappointed by the abbreviated menu. However, the food was extremely fresh with great ingredients. The chimichurri is a must and you'll need to ask for extra because it is so amazing. I had the chicken doido. The bread was amazing and fresh and the fries were too hot to eat. I was expecting shoestring fries, but the steak cut fries were really good with an exterior coating that kept them crispy for the entire meal. It was a good introductory meal to Brazilian food. The flan was incredibly sweet and creamy.”

“This place is so good, I got the plate with 2 meats (fried catfish and lemon fish), 2 sides (Mac and cheese and greens), and bread (I got the cornbread). Everything was tasty but the greens were a little too salty for my liking, though they went well with the sweet cornbread. Super affordable too. The dining room was closed so my coworkers and I ate in the car in the parking lot lol but I'm glad we went! I would for sure come often if I lived around here. Almost fell asleep on the drive back!!!”

It beats out Jackstack, Q39, and arguably even Joe's with how tender, juicy, and delicious their melt-in-your-mouth brisket and burnt ends are. Their regular and hot sauces are both really outstanding. Just the right blend. The buns? They're great. The Mac and Cheese was also incredibly good, and appreciated the spare bit of turkey I got with it the second time I went 🤣 that was also tasty. “This might be my new favorite neighborhood spot! I have driven past this restaurant many times, and decided I should stop by and give it a try. Boy was I pleased with my decision. Located on the outskirts of the Historic Northeast, Pho Bowl is a charming eatery with a nice sized menu selection. I was greeted by multiple restaurant staff as soon as I hit the door. Because I was on a schedule, I decided to take my food to go. I decided on B.1 (beef, noodles and friend onions), spring rolls and crab rangoon. I throughly enjoyed each meal item! I plan to visit again soon and dine in when I do so! The atmosphere was perfect for a nice quiet lunch on a week day afternoon. Would recommend!”

Prices are affordable and portions are so generous that you can have enough for at least 2 meals(if you order 1 portion for yourself). “What a fun and cozy little place. Enjoyed the more quaint atmosphere. The ladies working were extremely nice and quick, especially with the crepes! I had the Forest savory crepe and it was delicious down to the last bite. The sweet crepes are good as well, the lemon one has just the right amount of lemon flavor. The earl grey one was a little extra sweet but still good. The hot cocoa was very good as well, not super sweet but comes with a delicious marshmallow that's perfect with it. If you like crepes this is definitely worth a stop!”

“Eahh… I found this spot to be overpriced for lunch. The food was good not great. The cocktails were very good. Our server was really nice and helpful regarding our choices. Roasted feta was really nice while it was hot ,so eat it fast! Once it cooled it became very hard. The cucumber salad was alright. I mean it’s a $12 cucumber I expected something more special. Cucumbers are 2 for $3 at the grocery so the price was exorbitant. Not thinking I will be back but I can’t say never🤷🏽♀️”
