“My wife and I were in Nebraska City for our honeymoon and decided to stop by El Portal for some food, and we very much enjoyed our experience. My wife is a vegetarian and they had plenty of items for her to choose from and I got a seafood quesadilla. The prices were really good! You can easily find a meal for less than $10. The salsa is amazing and I requested to purchase some but our server (I cannot remember his name) gave us a nice to-go container for the salsa FOR FREE! Even after I insisted I’d pay for it. Our server was incredibly professional, well groomed and even cracked a few unexpected and well timed jokes to make the experience even better. The hospitality was incredible and everyone seemed to be happy to work there. If anyone is in Nebraska city and is looking for a perfectly affordable and delicious culinary experience, I highly recommend El Portal. We will definitely return.”

“Another ok Burger King. Not sure why they wouldn't refill the Dr Pepper in the dispenser. 5 people working. One gal said that she was "gonna" change it. But 20 minutes later still no DP. Mind you we're talking 10:30 in the morning. I was the only one in the restaurant and the drive through had about one car every 5 minutes. I'd be willing to bet that it's still empty ?? come on people.”

“Very clean place and more of a restauraunt than bar. Family friendly. We ordered the 10oz Ribeye and it was a cooked perfectly. Very good and tasty. Others in our group had various other items and they all agreed the food was great. Our waitress was awesome and made sure our drinks never went below half. Will be back for sure for Prime Rib Night which is the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month.”

“Tiny mom and pop style drive in out in a tiny mom and pop sort of town. Lovely! Nothing fancy by a long shot, but great value and a great bit of nostalgia with your order of burgers, fries, ice cream...typical wayside drive in food. But...for quite some time now it has been known as the Hwy 50 Drive In, not Jo-Bobs. Well worth an occasional trip from Omaha, as it takes you a million miles away from the stresses of the city. Be prepared to wait in line outside, though. There is no inside for anyone but the staff, and this place is popular!”

“My husband and I drove through Nebraska and stopped to eat at Dairy Chef during the Covid-19 pandemic May 9th, 2020. The staff all wore masks, and completely sanitized our table before seating us. It's a small location, humble and simple. My husband ordered a patty melt with steak fries. I got a mushroom Swiss burger with waffle fries. Those were both "baskets" so they came with fountain drinks and we also ordered mozzarella sticks. Everything came out fairly quickly and was piping hot. The sandwiches were amazing on the most delicious, buttery, toasty marbled rye bread. Spectacular to say the least. The fries were crispy and so good although not salted so we asked for salt packets. The mozzarella sticks were also top notch, the perfect breading-to-cheese ratio with a great stretch to the mozzarella. We definitely recommend this place and wish we didn't live 7 hours away as it would absolutely be a regular dining spot for us. I can't wait to go back some day to try a new menu item!”

I tried the meal and the slaw was the best that I have ever tasted with added dried cranberries giving it such a unique and delicious taste! I order 2 additional pounds of pulled pork to take home for dinner and just threw it in the crock-pot and everyone was served. So easy and everyone enjoyed! This is truly a hidden, small town gem and right now is a great time to support your small businesses. Stop in for lunch and take home for dinner!”
