Authentic southern food - excellent frogs legs and fried green tomatoes. Beautiful interior. Just don't get seated in the corner with too many tables stuffed in!

The frog legs were an amazing appetizer and the gumbo was incredible. The bread appetizer had a biscuit cornbread and hush puppies which all were a little dry but still pretty tasty. The service was great and the cocktails were really good. Definitely will be going back.

This week we decided to check out Sol in Portsmouth on a beautiful Sunday night. We were able to get a seat outside without a reservation and the hostess and wait staff couldn't have been friendlier.

The decor and atmosphere were wonderful and our waiter made sure to go over the menu as well as give us insight into the different regions that inspired the menu.

The deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes were perfectly prepared and our entrees came out shortly after well prepared and tasting great.

Sol takes up the space previously occupied by both Mr. Kim's and Agave making it had not to compare the dining slightly and that's really the only reason for the 4 out of 5. Portsmouth has a ton of amazing restaurants (Mr. Kim's was one of them) and Sol did enough that we will definitely return again even with so many options.

Went for the first time on 8/20 for a special occasion. I had set my expectations knowing the place is very new and is serving Southern food in New England. First of all - don't dare come here looking for a light meal. If you're a "dressing on the side" person, this isn't your spot. We were seated in the front window of this bright, loud, pretty space and our food was delicious. The hushpuppies are what I've been looking for here for years. The shrimp and grits was a glossy, well-seasoned, perfectly cooked entree. The deviled eggs are traditional and perfect. The prices were super reasonable especially for this area. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu, and I'll save room for dessert this time.

We enjoyed our dinner immensely! Everything was so delicious. We felt warmly welcomed and was visited by the manager a couple of times to check on us. Our server was excellent, too. We will definitely be back to try more of the wonderful offerings!
