The South African food is simply amazing. The taste and smells of the food is AMAZING. The owners are very sweet and helpful when making the choice for dinner. The hot and spicy shrimp is probably the best tasting food we have had in a long time. I am sure that The Zulu Hut will be an icon in Portsmouth.
Great water view. Friendly service. South African menu with an Indian influence. I liked the meatballs and the lamb stew-pot.
I’ve been to the Zulu Hut twice now - both times have been very enjoyable - the lamb meatballs are very tasty. I only heard positive comments around me about the food - I even heard someone order a dinner to go so they could try another dish the next day!
The view is awesome - there are 3 window tables - with one being good for a small group tucked into a corner - but even if you don’t get a window seat you will still be able to see the harbor from your table.
Nice selection of SA wines - beers are by the bottle.
Perfect location! Great views and very comfortable decor. The food was outstanding! Thanks guys!
Being South-African I was happy to hear that a South-African restaurant had opened in Portsmouth NH. I immediately called my friends and we made a reservation. We were greeted with a warm smile and a S.A accent. We were made to feel right at home in the cozy African themed restaurant. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The menu had a good selection of SA food. A selection I feel would favor the American pallet. I would highly recommend the Zulu Hut to anyone that wants to experience some great friendly South-African hospitality and some delicious S.A food. We would go back again and again.
