    Great place to have an upscale meal in Lake Placid while still enjoying a casual atmosphere. Our party had the pot roast, the scottish smoked salmon, and the potato gnocchi. They were all terrific. The pot roast especially, has a beautiful rich aromatic sauce. The gnocchi is light and chewy, not heavy at all. They have a good selection of wine and craft beer. We shared a dessert, which was underwhelming, a peanut butter cookie of some sort. (wasn't my choice, the others in my party liked it ok). Service was very attentive.

    Taste is the more affordable option to the main dining room at the View. It's still rather expensive, but the food is excellent. Service is good, and the decor is opulent. Also has a great bar. I often go there for their cocktails and decamp to the Inn's living room to sit in front of the fire.
