The Pure & Proper

Disclaimer: if you go to Pure & Proper and don’t try their Brussels Sprouts small plate, you’ll betray your taste buds.

That being said, we went here for lunch and had that aforementioned small plate with hot chicken and waffles. Both dishes were easily the best tasting food we’ve had all week. On top of this the environment was warmly lit with a rustic feel. It was relaxed and comfortable. The staff were enthusiastic about the restaurant and welcoming as well. Go here for lunch and go back for dinner.

Finally got to try Pure and Proper last night with a couple of friends. Missed taking pictures of the first couple small plates we ordered as we were way too excited and pleased with everything. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The crispy chicken came with the best collards I’ve ever had. The duck breast with succotash is what I was most looking forward to trying, and did not disappoint. The shishitos were new to me, and the curry they come with had some of the best flavors. And the flat iron steak - like butter. We did a blood orange cake w ice cream scoop for dessert, and again the balance of flavors was pretty unparalleled. 10/10 will be back again for anything else we didn’t get to try.

We ate here with our 12 month old for lunch. The food was fresh and flavorful. We had the squash and coconut soup, fries, and pork belly waffle sandwich. Will be making dinner reservations soon. Also the renovation of the building is beautiful , thank you for taking something old and run down and making it into something our community can be proud of.

Wow! What an amazing transformation from a very old building to an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious, the service awesome and we were made to feel at home in this beautiful addition to Black Mountain. We’re looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommend!
