Delicious!. Came here on a Friday afternoon and the line was out the door down the sidewalk. For good reason.
At this point this location is only been open for three months so everything is brand new and well taken care of. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice indoor and outdoor seating available. Full bar.
Got the traditional plate with collards. Only complaint is that I wanted more 😉
While I'm not an eastern style barbecue lover typically, this place does it well. The sauce is fairly gentle on the vinegar so you can taste the smoke and the chopped pork includes bits of crispy skin, which gives it a great texture. I suggest having the rather sweet slaw on the side rather than on the sandwich, not because it's no good, just because it would change the wonderful barbecue flavor.
The food is good. Fair portions, price is reasonable...but the service staff, is not good. They clustered in a corner chatting while I waited to get my food, no one really checked to see what I needed. There was a server who kept scratching, picking, digging various parts of her body including her armpits. It was cool to watch the man chop the BBQ in the window. Restaurant was really nice small retail space.
Absolutely beautiful place. Staff is super friendly. The food is delivered very fast to your table of choice. You can also bring your dogs it has a outdoor area with beautiful lighting. Amazing food, the barbecue is so delicious as well the mac and cheese. We will be definitely back
I've enjoyed four lunches at Sam Jones. The BBQ is different with somewhat hard pork skin pieces in the chopped barbecue and inconsistent texture. Flavor is good and sauces are savory. Love the finely chopped coleslaw, and the baked beans with ground beef are great. Enjoyed the sweet potato muffin too. Staff are nice and environment is pleasant. Not crazy about ordering at counter or community beverage dispenser where there's a lot of shared touch points or germ potential.
