Rosebud’s

I was really looking forward to trying this place out. We loved it when it was Veritas, Speck, the Cove, and now Rosebuds.
The decor is pretty much the same it always has always been.
The cocktails always are artistic, well-made, and served appealingly

Like it’s prior iterations the menu is limited

We had mom’s feta cheese, dip delicious as it always is

I was really looking forward to the cheesy burger. It was served cut in half, edges down in a mini lake of white cheese, melted queso Blanco type cheese on a super hot skillet that to get the burger you have to bring your fingers dangerously close and risk burning yourself either on the melted cheese or the hot dish, not particularly well thought out.
My wife ordered the lemon pepper, pepper steak, which she said was overcooked and lackluster at best. She left 3/4 of it over.

Our guest had the “damn good bologna sandwich “, which she left more than half over and took it home.
Our other guests had the hotdog creation which she said was pretty good

All in all we had high hopes, considering this was the birthplace of Veritas. The food really fell short of the mark

For table of four, $125 for bar food that was mediocre I was really disappointed. I certainly hope that they do better in the future because we really need an upscale restaurant bistro/pub in Delaware

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here. They continue the tradition of great cocktails, and Ana's Margarita is the closest to the old 12 West margarita that I've had in years. That alone would have been worth a visit!

We tried a variety of dishes - the wings, mushroom toast, cabbage casar, andouille dog, extra cheesy burger, and the soup of the day (chili).

Wings were cooked well as always, though I prefer the Speck lemon/chili seasoning to traditional buffalo. The mushroom toast was impeccable, and the chili was one of the best I've ever had. The burger served on queso was a fun twist. Special mention to the fries - so often an afterthought, the fries here a perfect, with a nice pickle powder seasoning.

The only dish that didn't work for us was the charred cabbage Caesar - while the dressing and other toppings were delicious, the cabbage was just too tough. We'll stick with the FANTASTIC wedge salad next time - so glad they kept that from Cove, only reason we didn't get it was to try something new.

Overall, we found Rosebud's a fun experience, great to see the same staff, great drinks, and we're excited to see how often the menu switches up. Can't wait to return!

This is my favorite new place in downtown Delaware, Ohio. Good prices and solid food. Upscale bar food for sure. We will definitely be back!
