Really good food, portion sizes were average. I just played it safe and had salmon, which was amazing. I will be back to try more for sure!

Google Maps had suggested -- twice -- that I may want to eat at -- and then presumably write a review of -- Harvey & Ed's. I am very glad that Google Maps had made those suggestions.

Yesterday [6-10-2019], I had been planning to attend a "book launch" party at Union Cafe [about one block to the north] so I had decided to eat beforehand at Harvey & Ed's.

First I want to say that it had been great to be able to study the Harvey & Ed's menu on-line before I had arrived and to begin to make my selection.

I ordered and ate Aunt Buddy's Patty Melt [toasted rye bread, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing]; both the sandwich and the accompanying fries had been absolutely delicious.

Chilled drinking water is served in large glass bottles that customers may use to fill their own drinking glasses. My server even replaced my bottle partway through my meal even though it had still been mostly full.

As soon as I had arrived at my table, I noticed that there are large mirrors on the walls near the ceiling that are mounted at an angle so that they face the tables from above. I am not used to seeing that many reflected images of myself up near the ceiling. I presume that the mirrors are there so that the wait staff will be able to see more clearly -- from anywhere in the restaurant -- when a customer needs something.

At the back, Harvey & Ed's has two single-use "men's" bathrooms and two single-use "women's" bathrooms. I had not noticed the second "men's" bathroom during my first trip to the back. My only suggestion for change at Harvey & Ed's is that they place signs on the doors of the more-visible bathrooms that explain that there is a far-less-visible second bathroom directly across the hallway from the more-visible bathroom.

In closing, I want to say that the service at Harvey & Ed's is great and that the food is delicious. I definitely plan to return.

Everything was great until the entrees. The salmon entree was very unimpressive. Just very bleh, and it wasn’t seasoned well. The brisket was awfully disappointing. It’s the most expensive entree in the menu and the meat portion was tiny. The sauce was too loose. The veg w said entree was abominable. The Brussels sprouts were so over cooked, they were just absolute mush, while the carrots were practically raw. I typically don’t complain or send food back, so I just ate enough to not be hungry, and it was a huge letdown to finish the experience here. The service staff was incredible and I liked the space.

This place is the best! It's my favorite brunch spot in the city. I recommended the Eggs Benedict. Bloody Mary's are good. You can get a bottle of champagne and OJ for like 20 bucks (a steal). Very cozy and modern in there too.
