(December 3, 2019, 8:03 am)Our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh, we always come to celebrate special occasions. The chicken dumpling soup will warm your soul on cold nights. No matter what we get to eat, it always has to be finished with sweet potato pie! Scrumptious!

The shrimp were a good size and everything was seasoned really well. Only negative aspect was the pool of butter/grease on the edges. I could easily pour it out and it still made my heart hurt after eating. Friendly service and nice atmosphere -

(August 18, 2019, 6:25 pm)First of all, the staff is so friendly and hospitable!! The atmosphere was perfect for a soul food restaurant. We asked for a reservation for 12 people very short notice (1h) and they were able to seat us at 2 nearby/nearly adjacent tables, which we didn't mind because we were still able to talk to each other as a group.
Secondly, the service was excellent and fast, even for our large party. Our hostess was so friendly and so was our waiter.
Third, the food was out of this world!!! I am so glad we took so many of our friends (many who were visiting from out of town) here for dinner before they left. The fried pickles/tomatoes were so good, and I loved the dipping sauce. Many of us got some variant of chicken and waffles, smothered chicken, smothered pork chops, etc. The fried chicken was bomb. Gravy was flavorful. The macaroni was delicious, mashed potatoes were excellent. I wanted to try the green beans and they were flavorful, but I did not really quite like the soft texture (though that may be how the green beans are supposed to be, just not for me). The cornbread was just slightly sweet, and delicious.
Overall, the experience was excellent and we love coming here, we always have a great time.
