I’d venture to say Maiz is the best Mexican food in RI! Authentic, fresh, flavorful and so so enjoyable. Staff is very pleasant, helpful when I’m indecisive, and seem to take pride in their little spot. So happy to have Maiz in south county! My go to order is the shrimp burrito, but really any of them are amazing, and/or the tacos. YUM!
I stopped to get 2 tacos. I went with the fish taco and the birria taco. OMG the birria was amazing. I didn't want to put anything else on it because the flavor was so delicious!! I could eat a bowl of that alone. The soft tacos are soft corn tortillas. I don't normally like corn tortillas but obviously these homemade were not your average tortilla. I will definitely be back.
Was in the mood for some Mexican and was in the area, did some searching and found this spot. Checked out the reviews and saw some photos and had to make the stop. Definitely glad I did the food was delicious I ended up getting a birra and fish taco and my some got a quesadilla. If your in the area check this spot out. 👍
Maiz is one of the best places in South County to get Mexican food from. Their birria tacos are so delicious and the meat is so flavorful. The flavors and everything about them is so authentic. My new favorite place. You can tell the workers love making food and they are really personable.
If you love Mexican food this is some of the best I've had outside of Texas. The tamale almost made me cry, perfect ratiom of meat (pork by choice) and maize....and perfect bullseye on the spices. The burritos....well after eating this I realized my taste buds haven't had a real Burrito since I left Texas...my buds were like wake up! Burritos are more complex and dynamic than just throwing stuff in a tortilla. This one hits all the nuances and depth most burritos only dream of achieving. The person at the Register told me I would love it and I did.
