“THIS Is real Tex-Mex! If I could give it seven stars, I would! The food was simply incredible. I had the Mexican dinner with beef enchiladas and half-and-half iced tea. I was surprised that they didn’t take credit cards, I have not used money in forever. But, it doesn’t seem to slow their business down any, the place was packed when I arrived and packed when I left. If you pass through Alpine Texas, you owe it to yourself to stop.”

“Was some good food, mostly cause it was fresh and hot, not cold, service was good, and quick, every time I pass through alpine I stop here from time to time and they are always busy so theh have good food. From 11 am to around 1:30 pm they pretty busy. But good was worth the wait for me.”

“Highly recommended must go pizza place. Love the food there. The pizza crust has choice of cauliflower or regular crust availability. Wings are crispy and tasy too. Servers and owner are welcoming, interactive and attentive. Could feel the Texan spirit of warmth and friendliness. Definitely will dine in again when we visit Big Bend parks.”

“Loved my visit to the Starlight. I was expecting a line into the parking lot at 4pm but it was very chill on a recent Saturday night. There wasn't even a line at 5 when they opened, just several parties kind of standing around. Everyone took their turns walking up to the hostess and in the end there weren't even enough people to fill the restaurant at opening. While you still have to wait in line to sit at the bar, normally the wait is much less and you might be able to get right in. So pro tip, just eat the bar. It's more fun there anyway as you can chat with the bartenders and locals. The salsa and guacamole combo appetizer is a must. Then I say opt for the country fried antelope. I mean, where else are you going to get antelope? It was delicious. The steak sandwiches was also really tasty. There's live music as well which starts at 6pm. Unsure if it's every night or just on the weekends. There's also a Cantina around the corner to the right where you can enjoy a drink before the restaurant opens.”

“First the location is kinda cool like you're headed to an out of the way place in Mexico. Ordered a sausage burrito and mocha, wow This is one of the best breakfast burritos I have had. Pair perfectly with the Mexican mocha of chocolate and cinnamon. Highly recommend this place to eat. Went back 2 more times. Still looking for a burrito this good after 2 months. Stop reading the reviews and go get some food your hungry and this place will not disappoint. Give this review a like so we can review more great places while you travel.”

“We weren’t able to eat here since they had run out of food (6:45 on Wed 12.29) however they still had good live music, cold beers, and soda. We left and got takeout from a food truck then came back and sat outside by the fire and bought a few beers while we enjoyed the music. DB himself was sitting at the same picnic table as us, I heard him tell someone he usually wasn’t open at the beginning of the week, but wanted to make sure people could eat. Can’t wait to go back and try the food. Bartender (man with small face tattoo) was really nice.”

“Fantastic and authentic food. Not what you would expect to find in such a small town. The food was fairly priced and the service was very quick. I got the chips and salsa and the 5 taco deal with barbacoa, pastor, and asada. The pastor was my favorite. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the big bend area.”

“All you can eat CONDIMENTS!!! That’s right! Actual bottles of ketchup and mustard on your table! Since the Cornyvirus seems like every restaurant on earth took bottles of ketchup and mustard salt and pepper off tables. So annoying!!! Not High Sierra. They got squeeze bottles of mustard and ketchup along with real salt and pepper shakers. So in addition to that there is: Excellent service. Very good food. Nice prices. Great live music too. One of the better places in Terlingua. Not packed with tourists. Wait staff is very friendly”

“Excellent food and atmosphere! The chili is a must while here in Terlingua and they’ve got it down (it’s my favorite)! The whole menu is delicious and you can’t believe how amazing and unique this restaurant is. One of a kind!”

“Totally loved the food. If you guys plan for a trip to Big Bend National park you can check for cabins and stays near this restaurant. Near this restaurant you have multiple stay options. This is the only restaurant you can find in the park. Dropped in for lunch and Ordered fries, vegetable enchiladas and it was very good. Very friendly staffs and cool place. The sauce taste was unique and very good. Has a good parking lots too.”

“I scooped this spot out to grab breakfast on the way to Big Bend early in the morning. I timed it just perfectly to arrive just after their opening at 7AM. While they didn't have their breakfast menu up I asked and they said they did have biscuits. I had a ham biscuit unsure what else would come on it but it did have egg and cheese. The ingredients weren't bad but the biscuit itself was not great. They also didn't have any mustard, mayo etc so it was quite dry. The coffee though was delicious and overall this food truck served it's function powering me through the morning hike.”

“New management, new cooks, new menu!! The pizza is phenomenal! Garlicky crust cooked perfectly...not too soft, not too hard. Perfectly seasoned sauce, fresh toppings. Topped it off with their new Sundae bar! So happy for this upgrade! Can't wait to try the other new additions to the menu!”

“We selected this cafe as it was the only place in town open at the moment. Didn't disappoint...taco salad was as decent as a taco salad can be, fried catfish not bad except the batter to fish ratio was slightly off (too much batter) but still fine enough. Coffee was surprisingly good, hot cocoa was soul nourishing, and the staff was great!! Warm, friendly, fast service! Perfect stop for a quick brunch without feeling rushed. We ate here as we waited to check into the Gage Hotel. They were playing Destiny's Child which threw off the quintessential West Texas country vibe but hey, it's just a down to earth, no nonsense Cafe. Check it out for a good value meal. Standard American and Mexican fare.”

“Breakfast was standard, service was lacking. They just need more help, maybe. Stopped for a quick breakfast. The server said we could sit down anywhere, but then kinda forgot us. It was 30 minutes before we just got up to order at the counter and get some coffee. Can’t mess up eggs and bacon, so that was good! The place was cozy, with indoor tables and some picnic tables outside. Glad it’s there since there’s nothing else around!”

“Restaurant opens for dinner at 4:30. We had to wait for a little bit. Views of the mountains are very nice. We had the barbecue plate with sausage and pulled pork plus the bacon wrapped fillet mignon with mashed potatoes and veggies. Sopapillas with ice cream for dessert. Everything tasted good and the service was fast and server was very nice.”

“We had a fantastic meal. The food was well prepared, artfully flavored and overall superb. The atmosphere and decor were unique and inviting. The reason I only give it 3 stars is because of the service, beginning with a less than pleasant host with poor communication skills. The server was friendly, however, she brought the main course while we were finishing the appetizer. That happens, but please clear the plates when it is finished. Also, we should not have to ask for water refills. When glasses are clearly empty, please offer more.”

“Top shelf Texas BBQ. Translation: some of the best BBQ in the world. Not hyperbole. Make the drive if you're in the region. If you don't you'll never know what you missed.”

“Omygoddd I am totally missing this restaurant now. Everyone who plans for Big Bend National park should stop by this restaurant and have their food and go. This restaurant is located in Marathon which is one of the last place before you proceed to the Big Bend National park. This restaurant is located inside ALON gas station. If you have to fill your gas this ALON is the last place to fill your tanks before you proceed to Big Bend. Well not just fueling your vehicle but don’t forget to fuel yourself with their food 🤪🤪 We ordered Jalapeño Poppers, Fish Burger , Chicken Strips , Curly Fries, Tostadas. It was tooo good. Being near the Mexico border I felt like it was a perfect Mexican taste and I loved the sauce which they gave. It as the first time I ever had that sauce in a Mexican restaurant. Well I loved it not sure if you might 🤪🤪 Staffs were friendly and don’t forget to get a snack from the store which is very yummy and has some spice flavor.”

“Crispy thin crust, good sauce and cheese, and high quality toppings. 8" personal pizza was enough for lunch the next day. You never know what you're going to get with pizza in a remote location -- this small, unassuming place is actually good and could hold its own in a city. Will definitely return the next time I'm in the area.”
