“I am speaking as a employee and customer because isn’t that what we all are at the end of the day?! You know how you can just tell immediately the feel of a place/people almost immediately? I have only started a couple weeks ago and I must say as an employee I couldn’t be happier with the owners/boss’s! They stretch themselves above and beyond to make there business thrive not only for themselves but there employees & costumers!!! They and also the employees are great to work with. I highly enjoy the people that come in and take their time to get to know us or are just passing through!! As a customer I must say the food is fantastic, prices are great especially if you also consider the fact that your eating at a quality restaurant (in all aspects) they are fast in the kitchen and the drinks are amazing! P.s. I had never heard of or tried fried avocados before, a customer I waited on insisted if I did he would to, in our opinion they were amazing 😋”

“Nate is the best server. I'm a Celiac, and the grilled catfish with no seasoning, a baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli are my go-to treat! “I took the whole family to this Popeyes for my son's birthday meal. He wanted to taste the chicken sandwich that Daddy has always talked about! It's the infamous chicken sandwich. Whether it be original or spicy they are awesome! :-) and they have different sauces for other meals like their fried shrimp. Those sauces are out of this world. :-) I need not explain how clean the place is from the time you walk in the door to the time you go out. It is a place you would want to take your family for some great Louisiana cooking!!”

Good experience. *update* visit one year later: Grilled chicken salad was good but it had grilled mushrooms and jalapeno on it?? Not listed on menu as ingredients...girlfriend did not like... Mushroom Swiss burger was good, a bit bland. Twister fries were meh....... Not much more than a 2 star experience this time around, rather disappointed.”

“Prior to Up In Smoke, Brownwood was lacking good barbecue. After visiting today, I'm happy to say that's in the past. I ordered the fatty brisket with pinto beans and macaroni casserole on the side. The brisket was EXCEPTIONAL. I've had Panther City BBQ, and Interstellar BBQ, both top-10 in Texas Monthly, and Up In Smoke's brisket game is right on level with those. The meat was tender, the fat was a perfect consistency, and the rub was very pleasantly peppery without overwhelming the brisket's flavor. The sides were a good compliment; pinto beans were very traditional and done just right, and the casserole was very rich! The place itself is very clean and modern, with a small indoor dining area and plentiful outdoor seating in the back. If barbecue is your thing, I highly recommend Up In Smoke.”

“Wow, I can't say enough about this place! If you are a wine enthusiast, like eclectic food, or just enjoy a unique atmosphere, go out and check this one out. You won't be disappointed. Owner came out and introduced herself, the gentleman taking care of me invited me to look through their wine selections in their wine room while I was waiting on my order and brought my first glass of wine to me there. They have numerous bottles which I found unique and would like to try. This is the first of what I am certain will be many visits. I tried the South American Picahna medium rare with a chimichurri sauce, roasted pineapple and sweet peppers, and carrots. I started with an excellent loaf of bread made fresh in-house. To finish I had 3 house-made truffles, pecan turtle, a cordial, and an espresso. Sampled with a dark ruby estate port, this was out of this world good. Thank you so much for a much-needed night out! Much more than I expected and less than I expected to pay for it. Thank you again and I will definitely see you again!”
