That place you must experience at least once in Galveston and hopefully you do. I got to say forget all those other seafood places you see advertised all over Galveston for seafood. This is the one you're looking for. They must be doing something right if they've been there since 1911 that tells you something. It was like stepping back in time to a place in time where they do everything right. I'm looking for the words to express how good the experience was here. I guess I'll put it this way I don't know how they could have made everything and anything go better for us. The wait staff was incredible and after talking to a few of them a lot of them had been working there over 30 years and some much longer. The restaurant has a great feel and is decorated beautifully and what they offer on the menu there's something for everybody. We definitely ordered more than we should have and everything we had was so good. It was one of the best dining experiences me and my group have ever had. not only did we not have to ask for anything it was already brought to the table and provided their attention to detail was incredible. So I'll put it to you this way one of the most memorable and wonderful dining experiences of my life. Hope to make it back there someday definitely will keep it in mind for an anniversary or special occasion.
We went here for our last dinner on vacation and it was amazing! Absolutely worth it with fabulous food. Our server was great as well. We had 4 people in our party and I think almost all of us cleaned off our plates. Don't feel like you have to dress fancy because of the white table cloths. We did a little more than we would being by the beach and all. But there are definitely some people there in shorts and t-shirts. Yes it's quite a bit more expensive than other seafood restaurants on the island. But rightfully so. The food and experience was well worth it.
Absolutely incredible! One of the few places in Galveston I had yet to try, Gaidos did not disappoint. It's easy to see why they've been in business for over 100 years. I got the red snapper. Expensive, but very, very good. Hands down the best fish I've ever eaten. Oysters were fresh and I tried golden tile for the first time. Excellent experience! I will definitely be returning!
Although their price point is for the most part higher than all other seafood restaurants on the island, there is a reason for this.... Their food is better. Starting inside the old Murdoch's bath house, Gaidos has been a Galveston staple her over a hundred years. There are fish and seafood is fresh and you can tell. Their preparations are exquisite, and they're wine menu over the last few years has really developed. The most polished seafood eatery on the island!
Gaidos and Nick's share a building and from what I understand a kitchen. But Gaidos was something really special! The restaurant is large and was fairly crowded the night we were there, but the tables are spaced wide apart, the floor is carpeted and the tables are covered with cloths so it is amazingly quiet. There were 9 in our group. They seated us at a round table and we were able to converse without shouting. It was very nice! The food was really exceptional; well prepared and artfully presented. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall an excellent experience. I will be back for sure.
