“Stopped here last minute when there is zero food places open in Houston due to the weather. The owner and his family are incredible people. They were there only to check on their store but stayed to serve the public. As for the quality, outstanding!!!!! My wife and I ate pastries all through the Balkans and these were 100% spot on to what we had. I loved it so much and it brought back amazing memories. I cannot wait to go back and send others here. What a hidden gem.”

Thiem Hung Bakery

Address: 12320 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77072, USA

Bakery Restaurant

“The best bo ne/Vietnamese steak and egg. The beef is so tender and it just melts in your mouth. Their pate and butter also goes great with the bread. Portions are really good. You definitely will be filled up. Bo ne is one of those cuisines that you have to take your time to eat in order to savor every taste. This place is a hidden gem. Located in a small plaza. The inside isn't too big so there can be a wait when it's crowded. Always be careful when you're eating bo ne because it comes out on a sizzling hot plate. You can practically see the steam coming out of it. It's always exciting because it smells so good and it's best to eat while it's sizzling. This place has become my favorite place to get bo ne in town.”

“This is the closest place I have encountered in Houston that is similar to classic bagels in the Northeast. They even have a proper full shmear -- bagel, cream cheese, lox, tomato slice, purple onion, capers. And the ingredients are delicious. They are especially generous with lox, something uncommon here or in the Northeast.”

Common Bond On the Go

Address: 601 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007, USA

Bakery Cafe Restaurant

“Bakery: Common Bond is a local bakery chain that makes Eurocentric and American baked goods. My personal favorites are their macaroons, their mocha mascarpone, and their chocolate croissant. They are best known for their colorful branding and busy brunch line. The workers are polite, knowledgeable, and patient with their customers. Prices are $$ it’s not cheap but it’s also not expensive. Environment: cute to-go shop with a small waiting area and about 4 sit down tables. Pastries are displayed in glass case much like other locations. They have a cute baked goods mural on the back wall. Pros: quick, close to where I live, had a large selection, everything is fresh and tasty Cons: a bit noisy with the register so close to the back of the house, they are getting used to the new quick service format, tables make it cramped, the other patrons can be exhausting General feedback from the opening: -May need alternative way to process to go orders during rushes - 4 tables chosen for inside restaurant seems space inefficient and crowded (high tops or space saving choices would be better) -the cashier area is very noisy and it’s hard for the cashier and patron to speak especially with the splash guards and masks -needs clearly defined pick up/waiting area -having a sample size for beverages displayed would be helpful -footprints on the floor for 6 foot covid19 distancing are a foot away from eachother (because the line snakes around) -heights patrons are the worst. Today while getting my order the other patrons were insufferable: one lady lectured the cashier for 5-6 minutes after her order was in her hands on the proper sequence to put her breads in the bag ???keep in mind with the masks, plastic guard, and kitchen no one can hear anything. The next patron was upset that her 16 oz coffee was 16 oz ??? but wouldn’t let the manager fix anything. Outside of the store, a pickup truck cut the whole line by forcing his way in through a different entrance. If the owners see this review, give this manager and cashier a bonus or extra something. They were professional, prompt, and friendly DESPITE the behavior of the patrons. That cashier working morning shift on 5/22 is a saint.”

Einstein Bros. Bagels

Address: 923 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, TX 77058, USA

Bakery Cafe Restaurant

“I used to work at a location in Washington quite a few years ago and it's still as delicious as I remember. They don't carry my favorite item any more but the chai tea and turkey on asiago is still amazing. The only thing bad that still hasn't changed since I left my old job was that they still haven't figured out a way to not run out plain bagels two hours after opening. Still worth it though.”

La Michoacana Meat Market

Address: 8501-A Gulf Fwy, Houston, TX 77017, USA

Bakery Restaurant

“The Corp. store chef (Edgar) was there when I came in, told him exactly what I wanted (extremely customer service oriented) and he made it for, no fuss, no muss. It tasted GREAT !!!”

Dinner Bell Cafeteria

Address: 6525 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023, USA

Bakery Restaurant

“Simple, good food at more than reasonable prices. This is a back to basics cafeteria, the interior probably hasn't changed much since it opened 60+ years ago but appears clean and cared for. My chicken pot pie with sides and roll we're $8. The green beans were excellent with lots of flavor, corn was crisp and sweet. The pie could have used more salt but had lots of vegetables and chicken. Most of the customers were older like me. Service behind the counter was excellent and it was nice to be offered tea refills while I ate. Nice variety of entrees and vegetables, good selection of salads. Attached bakery has cookies, pies, breads, pasties to take home. Areal throw back to another time.”

“I really enjoyed the food and staff. The building and decor were very cool. I would however recommend you bring your own KETCHUP. They have a home made ketchup that’s more like a marinara sauce. Other than that everything was great.”
