“If you are looking for a laid back Sunday snack place, this is the place for you! Located in the outskirts of Castroville along Hwy 90, Mr. Penguin offers a great variety of snacks. From Elote en vaso, to mangonadas, rusas and so much more! We had banana splits, to which we got to choose the flavor of the ice cream. The bananas were nice and fresh! We left with a rusa to go, and the flavor was just on point! There is a seating area to enjoy your snacks. Lovely place for a Sunday snack!”

“This place is everything we have been looking for since moving to San Antonio! I haven't had pizza this good since Italy. The sauces on the dishes my wife and I ordered were incredible, both cream-based. The homey feel of the ambience was the most welcoming we've experienced in San Antonio which is saying a lot! The service was personal and top-notch, Patti was our server. The fact we can bring our own wine completes the 5-star experience!! If you have not tried this place do yourself the favor”

“Drive by here all the time and decided to stop by and give em a shot, was definitely a good decision. The brisket is pretty damn tender and hella delicious. Also tried the sausage and was just as good. The BBQ sauce they make is wonderful and hits the flavor keys just right. From the looks of it I have found a new favorite BBQ destination. “Checking in was a breeze. Staff was very informative and attentive. Pricing for spa and restaurant is VERY reasonable. Chef Daniel made my mothers birthday dinner experience special due to him personally making sure everything was to our liking; received a complimentary dessert. Brunch the next day was great, awesome drinks and views. Pool is relaxing and small but good for guest interaction. Would recommend this for romantic or stay-cation getaway, didn't see any children and to be fair, hotel set up is more for adult fun than anything. I loved it. Informed staff they'd be seeing more of me because i definitely plan on going back soon!”

“Update: Came back, even better than before! The brisket pot roast is elevated, wonderful presentation, and soooo good. You will not leave here hungry. And try the deviled egg appetizer with brisket and pocked onions. They fly off the plate! If you live within 50 miles of this fine establishment (that means you San Antonio) come and try. You will be impressed! Super charming restaurant. Nice menu, and the food was well prepared. Really looking forward to go back and try other menu items. And what a view!”

“We ventured out a little bit and landed at Billy Bob's Burgers in Castroville, TX. Very nice, country, small and cozy place. I ordered a Billy Bob's meal, with onion rings. My boyfriend had the egg cheeseburger. We liked it! A suggestion though, when ordering. Their patties are thin, it would be good to consider doubles. Especially when ordering the Egg burger. Their onion rings are delicious! They melt in your mouth. They have a season all type of seasoning, which goes well with the fries. Staff is friendly, and welcoming. Very clean place.”

“The portions are big. I ordered country fried steak, and it filled the entire plate! They have been there 16 years and I had no idea! We drive past it all the time, but a friend reccomended it so we decided to check it out. The catfish is delicious as well! Everything was very tender. The onion rings could be a meal by themselves too. Got a half order, and the rings were like, the size of my hand. They were nice and hot and crispy! Had to giggle when I saw the salad that came with my steak though. (It's just lettuce and tomato). Will come here again.”
