Friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The service was spot on. This is truly home cooking Texas style the way we grew up around these parts. In my opinion you will not find a better place to dine. Unless you want a steak.
Wanted a quick place for some southern comfort food while we were traveling through Amarillo... We found this place on a top 10 list and decided to try it.
Food was good, service was attentive.
I had the lite portion of the chicken fried steak. Really good! Gravy was perfect, the batter was good and the steak was excellent.
My wife had fried catfish. It was good S well, but a bit too salty! After getting used to that, the catfish was good. The sides were good southern cooked sides!
Prices were very reasonable.
Recommend this place for a good southern meal!
Great food had the pot roast more than generous portion, my wife got the meatloaf also fantastic and generous. The bread is spot on definitely a must stop if you are in the mood for home cooking
If you’re looking for some home style cooking, look no further. Calico County Restaurant delivers all the way. The food was hot and delicious, the prices weren’t expensive, and the service was great. The fried pickles were absolutely delicious! When we went, you got a free order of pickles (that visit or another) for creating a FREE account with them to earn points towards every visit.
We went for lunch on Easter Sunday. We expected it to be busy, and we were correct. Only about a 10 to 15 minute wait. My wife ordered the hamburger steak with cabbage and fried okra. She said everything was really good. The meal came with fresh rolls and cinnamon rolls as well. Both were great. I ordered the turkey and dressing, which is only available on Sunday until they run out. Turkey was juicy, and the dressing was great with chunks of onion and celery. My sides were broccoli and rice casserole, not a lot of flavor but still good. Black-eyed peas as well, no real flavor, but I don't mind. I added salt, and everything was good. The restaurant is a little old and needs some updating and was not spotless . But we will try again for sure. The food was good.
