“Don't let this review discourage you from experiencing Ama's. The food is absolutely delicious. I love the hot sauce. It's completly smooth(which is my personal favorite) with no chunky veggies. The chips are a little too thick which makes them come off as stale. Where this rating comes in is both times I've been, the wait for the food takes forever on weekend nights. It took about an hour to get our food from the kitchen on both nights. I'm not sure what the problem is there, but the waiters are very friendly and tried to keep us happy while we waited too long to get our food.”

“The 'Mary's Special Plate' is delicious. Such a variety of items. I have been eating here since 1982 and the authenticity of Mexican fare has maintained its greatness. I love the cheese enchiladas and the tamales melt in your mouth. El Alamo Cafe should be a stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner in downtown Hearne. It's on third st. Enjoy.”

“Great place to relax and have a cocktail. The staff is very friendly and atmosphere is laid-back. Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon to get some liquid refreshments staid till closing. The owner was nice enough to give us a ride back to the Loves being we walked from the truck stop. Attention truck drivers staff is willing to pickup and take back to truck stop just give them a call.”

“The food is good, but there is no quality control at this location. On one occasion, the chicken legs were about the size of a wing. On 2 other occasions, I ordered one jalapeno for one of the meals. When I got home, the jalapeno was never put in. If I pay for it, I expect it to be in the box. The Chicken Express in Bryan has quality control. The cashier opens the box to make sure everything is in there and they initial the receipt that is on the box to show that it was checked before giving it to the customer.”

“First time here. We were returning from a weekend trip. We all felt like tacos. The ice tea was fresh and tasted good. Good salsa with warm fresh chips. We had the crispy tacos lunch. The tacos were very good. The rice had a good flavor...the charro beans needed a little salt but overall a very nice experience. The wait staff was busy but friendly and fast. We will be back next time we find ourselves here.”

“Decent place to eat. Friendly service. I rated it low for all the little extra cost. For instance if you choose chicken strips (that come with gravy) and ask for a substitute you are charged. I would think if you asked to substitute BBQ sauce for gravy it would be free. However this is not the case. It's just seeing someone nickel and dime someone just doesn't seem right.”

“First, the people who work here went out of their way to make us feel welcome and their willingness to provide great customer service is most likely why the Food is so good and this place is Voted best Tacos in Hearne! Now these are Real Tacos not the cheap hard shell junk you get at the Bell. You come in here and your going to get some Tortilla Chips with their really great Salsa, it’s a warm Salsa which I normally don’t care for but this one is actually excellent and I have to make myself stop eating to not ruin my appetite. Then the actual Tacos come out and they are Huge for the few dollars you pay for them. My personal Favorite they serve here that I don’t believe I’ve seen on anybody else’s Menu in town is the “Al Pastor” I didn’t ask specifically but I believe it’s BBQ Style Marinated Grilled Pork Shoulder and Pineapple Chunks, I do know for sure it’s DELICIOUS!”

“Stopped here yesterday from out of town. Had the shrimp & beef fajitas, my wife had beef nachos. Excellent flavor & polite waitresses. Can tell certain male locals thoroughly enjoy the female company from the waitresses but that's common in small towns. All very friendly staff & great sweet tea. Will stop again in the future.”
