Good Gawd!!!! My husband and I travel for work from state to state…. THIS is, by far, as good as Cajun can get!!! Crispy, well seasoned, catfish and chicken…. And the sides are oozing with “that sauce”!!! I could eat her LITERALLY EVERYDAY!! Greatful for a wonderful experience and good Ol’ home cooking!!!
My boyfriend’s family is from east Texas and he is very particular about his gumbo. He says the roux here is really good. I had gumbo with chicken, sausage, shrimp and crab. It was delicious and had so much flavor. The waiting staff was really sweet and tentative. We will for sure be coming back!
Y'all seriously need to go check out this place. Delicious food, great customer service. Plenty of food left for your 2nd round. Lunch and dinner in one plate. This isn't our first time and will definitely make a return. 😋
Looooooooooooooved the food! First time here, and we found out they have daily specials (not the whole menu all days).
Today (Saturday) we got—
Gumbo:
- sausage: amazing flavor and unique to what I’ve had before
- chicken: delicious and not dry
- shrimp: perfect addition
- crab: no easy way to eat the meat, so that part was messy and disappointing (we took it home though)
- rice: maintained texture in the gumbo
- soupy part: very soupy and liquidy, but AMAZING spice flavor
- so filling (sorry my pictures don’t show the fullness of the other stuff in it!)
Baked fish plate:
- fish: so. Amazing. The flavor and texture were perfect
- dirty rice: one of the best versions
- cornbread: oh so moist
- green beans: great flavor (we added salt for our taste)
- Mac n cheese: bland, but very “real” cheesy (with the flavorful fish and rice, it complemented it ok).
All in all, I was between 4-5 stars, but went with 5 bc the atmosphere and employees were SO nice and quick and you can tell they care about their food!
I’m excited to try the corn bread bowls on Sunday and the shrimp étouffée whenever that is! And fried fish plate on Fridays!
Gumbo is very authentic and true to the New Orleans taste!!!
I’m from New Orleans and it taste like my grandma’s recipe. This eatery location has many of the NOLA infamous items like Zooey Gooey Cake, Pralines, Chee Wees, Big Shot drinks, Yaka mein, and more. Plus, the staff is super friendly and stuffs you plate, giving more than you paid for!!!
Austin doesn’t have many authentic New Orleans places to eat, so this is right on time!!!
