I visited Project Pollo for the first time today 12/16/2020 and outside of the food being super yummy, I wanted to come on here to comment on the young man working the front window and say his joyful energy and demeanor was priceless. My order wasn't ready yet so I sat and watched him deal with a hearing impaired elderly couple and using his phone to text out things for them to read and even through his mask I could see him smiling at them and gesturing thank you and you're welcome in sign language. After that I watched him customer after customer be so kind and friendly and make sweet comments like "I love your hair!" or "cool scarf". It literally made my day and I want the managers to know this kid needs some kudos because this is not customer service you see everyday or ever. Even if my food wasn't great (which it totally was) I'd come back and try again because of this wonderful human I witnessed today.

my favorite vegan chicken hands down, in the city and in... everywhere. i've been vegan for five years and have lots of chicken tender, nugget, sandwich, etc. substitutes and this blew my mind !!! the breading is INSANE. INSANE. i think the protein inside is a medium firm tofu, which at first i wished it was extra firm, but the juxtaposition with the crunchy breading made me appreciate it. even if you aren't a tofu person, this chicken is worth a shot.

i think they made the right call. best of all this place is AFFORDABLE AF. vegan food gets such a bad rap for being elitist and only for rich white people. the price points here are much, much fairer than other spots in the city. this place is so good we got it three times in a week and a half. love love love love love

I was excited to find Project Pollo because they were offering vegan AND gluten free "fried chicken". Although it's not healthy, that's not the point here. I came here to try something I haven't had in over 7 years since going vegan and gluten free. I've tried to find this and the closest I got was a restaurant in Denver that had cauliflower chicken steaks. Delicious but not the same thing. Other vegan establishments have turned their noses at the thought of gluten free options, so I had just given up in disappointment. So when PP showed up in a great location I had to try it.

I got the 2 for 10 tenders, one normal for my wife and one gluten free for me. The breading was really well done. It had great texture and flavor. I enjoyed it with ranch along with fries and I enjoyed every bit. I don't normally eat like this because of digestive issues, so I wasn't prepared for how much salt was probably in it. Of course, that just made it more realistic and delicious, so not really a negative thing here. On top of all of this, the prices were great. Probably cheaper than anywhere else I've eaten. 2 meals under $20 is very hard for us to find in Austin.

There is parking and easy access off of Rosewood, and they share a spot with Soup Peddler so you could get best of both worlds if you desire. I hope to try one of their milkshakes during a future visit. Overall I am so glad this place is here because I've needed somewhere to bring non vegans that won't complain about high prices and unrealistic food, because this has best of both worlds to help them feel like they can eat something ethical that tastes like their childhood memories.

So tasty!! We got the Mac + Buffalo, Project Spicy & the wrap, add Buffalo. The “chicken” is really juicy & has a great flavor & texture. If you love spicy, go for the Buffalo! If not, I’d steer clear or get it on the side because it’s hot!!

I discovered Project Pollo through Instagram and honestly didn’t have the highest expectations but still wanted to give it a shot. Honestly, this has to be one of the best, if not the best vegan chicken sandwiches in town. I am super impressed. They have a fast food style menu, but the ingredients are noticeably quality. I ordered the Deluxe sandwich and the “chicken” was breaded to perfection - very crispy and flavourful on the outside with a juicy interior. It is such a satisfying and high quality sandwich, especially for the low price!!
